In the most ideal situation we would be able to turn on our swamp coolers with no problems and have it deliver cool air to us all day long. Sadly, swamp coolers need to be watched closely to make sure that they are running correctly, and putting out enough cold air. You should check it regularly to make sure it is not working too hard and the cooler is working efficiently.
Imagine your swamp cooler like it is a car. A car requires its oil to be changed, its tires rotated, its battery recharged, etc to make sure that it is taken care of. An HVAC motor also needs to regular attention for it to work its best.
Swamp coolers work best when the temperatures are higher than 85 degrees. It saves on water usage and energy. You should also turn on the water pump at least five minutes before you turn on the fan so that the pads are saturated with water first so the cooler is more effective.
Be sure that you give your swamp cooler the proper maintenance. Check the fan belt to be sure it isn't sagging. If it is visibly sagging more than about an inch it should be replaced. Be sure the cooler pads are also in good shape. Check for any cracks or holes, or any leaks in the casement or tray. If there are, call an air conditioning repairman.
The water should be at its proper level in the tray for it to work properly. The water should reach just below the top of the tray, and can be adjusted with the float arm if it doesn't. Be sure that everything else is in working form, including the pump and motor. Winterize your swamp cooler once the weather turns colder. It's important to clean the buildup deposits so that they don't harden during the cold months and become impossible to remove. Clean out the tray and drain all water completely.
Be sure to turn off the water line to the cooler during the winter so to prevent it from freezing the water line. During the the winter you should remove the panels every so often to clean out any debris. You don't want the pads getting ruined by dust, leaves and debris that gets inside.
It's important to have a trustworthy plumber to take care of your plumbing needs and air conditioning and heating.
Pumping Components for Burning and Cooling
Every vehicle needs two contrasting, but equally important, types of pumps---one for shooting fluid for burning and one for supplying another type of fluid for cooling. General Motors, for example, use a GM Fuel Pump to draw fuel from the its tank and into the engine and GM water pump to inject steady supply of water into the cooling system.
A GM fuel pump enables the fuel to be injected from the fuel tank to the engine. For carbureted engines, fuel is delivered under low pressure, while for fuel injection systems, the fluid is transported under a high pressure to the fuel injection system. Normally, fuel-injected engines have two different types of fuel pumps---one low pressure/high volume supply pump in the tank and one high pressure/low volume pump at or near the engine.
Generally, there are two kinds of fuel pump used by General Motors. The first one is the mechanical GM fuel pump used in carbureted vehicles. The electric GM Fuel Pump, on the other hand, is utilized for EFI vehicles. The electronic fuel injection is a fuel delivery system that injects controlled amounts of fuel into the engine's combustion chambers. A computer system controls the entire process, observing important variables such as the position of the throttle, the air and fuel ratio, and the exhaust contents.
A GM Water Pump, on the other hand, the cooling system of a Cadillac or Jeep. It is installed at the grille side of the engine and is driven by the belt from a pulley to the end of the engine. This water pump is a vital component in maintaining the engine and radiator temperature levels. Thus, engine is being kept from overheating.
A good GM water pump delivers a performance essential to the cooling systems of GM vehicles such as Oldsmobile, EV-1, DunPont, Saturn, or Cadillac. It functions effectively by absorbing heat produced by the engine during combustion. The said process happens 'real-time' when a vehicle is running, as the engine produces the heat that powers the entire automobile. Water pumps minimizes engine problems that may damage certain vehicle parts like the radiator and other engine components.

How long should the Second timing belt & water pump last on a '98 Mitsubishi Eclipse?
This car is the GS (non-turbo) model with the larger 2.4 L engine and now has 140,000 miles on it . The owners manual says to change the first one around 60k - I did that one on time. But, then I've heard that the parts that are put in at 60k last alot longer than the originals. How long should they last? And, when do I need to change the timing belt & water pump again? Thank you!
It's time for replacing another timing belt and water pump, the sooner the better. This should have been done at 120,000 miles. You should go with what the owner's manual says if you want to keep your car for a long time. when timing belts breaks, rods and pistons will be F***** and you will have to dole out lots of dough. spend a little now or a lot later. to avoid being double charged for labor when replacing timing belt you should consider changing water pump too as water pump and timing belt are located in the same area.
Study Provides Insights Into Major Climate Swings
North Pacific circulation radically changed by past post-glacial warmingToward the end of the last ice age, a major reorganization took place in the current system of the North Pacific with far-reaching implications for climate, according to a new study published in the July 9, 2010, issue of Science by an international team of scientists from Japan, Hawaii, and Belgium.Earth’s climate is ...
