We've all been captivated at one time or another by the sight snake charmer sitting cross-legged, blowing on a flute, while his poisonous cobra, its puffed-up hood spread wide, rises up out of a basket and sways to and fro in time with the music.
Snake charmers have charmed and mesmerized spectators as well as snakes for centuries. The earliest documented use of snake charming was in Ancient Egypt. There, a rearing cobra with its hood spread wide was a symbol of royalty. At a time when less than ten percent of the population could read and write, snake charmers were high-status, literate men, who served as both healers and magicians. They learned about the various types of snake, what snakes were sacred to which gods, and how to treat people who were bitten by snakes. They were also entertainers, who knew how to charm the reptiles for their customers.
Another early reference to Egyptian snake charming is the biblical account in the Old Testament (Exodus 7:8-12), in which Pharaoh summons the country's best magicians to compete with Moses and Aaron. The Egyptian magicians change their walking staffs into living snakes, but Aaron does them one better, turning his staff into a snake that eats all their snakes.
Today, snake charmers are still active in Egypt and other North African countries, as well as India and other Asian countries. Many of them can be found on street corners, performing primarily for tourists. Others wander from town to town, performing in smaller villages during market days and festivals. Most of them use the hooded cobra, and in Egypt the most popular species is the aggressive Egyptian cobra, which can grow to a length of almost eight feet and looks most impressive when it puffs up its hood.
So how do they do it? How do they make a snake freeze like a stiff rod? By some accounts, the charmer grabs the snake and applies pressure to a certain spot on its neck, pinching a nerve and causing the snake to stiffen up like a walking cane until the charmer throws it on the ground.
But how does the snake charmer keep from being bitten? Unfortunately, many present-day charmers are apparently frauds who use non-venomous species, or remove the snake's fangs or venom glands, or even sew the snake's mouth shut.
So did the snake charmer of Ancient Egypt employ the same tactics, or did they really make the snake do all those things with no gimmicks? Only they would know.

Honda’s Mugen Open Top Sport Concept Unveiled at Tokyo Auto Show
Honda, maker of quality Toyota parts like like Honda tie rods has unveiled its S2000 at the recently concluded 2007 Tokyo Auto Show (January 12-14). The Honda S2000 was modified by Mugen to create the Open-Top Pure Sport Concept. The car looks as if it was designed for motorsport fans. The S2000 has an interior fitted with black/red Mugen bucket seats while for its body a unique set was placed to give the car a sportier look but in the process maintained the car’s famous smooth lines. The use of impressive exhausts at the back is another proof of the potential of this car; unfortunately no HP or torque figures are available for the S2000 though.
S2000 a Classic Roadster
Before it was modified by Mugen, the Honda S2000 was considered to be a classic roadster-style sports car and a performance icon for the Honda brand. The S2000 combines uncompromising racetrack performance with practicality. Honda has built the S2000 basing on that premise.
Further improvements were made for the S2000 including the addition of electronic DBW or Drive-by-Wire Throttle System™, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®), maintenance minder system, standard headrest speakers, an outside temperature gauge, revised seat and console designs, a unique new alloy wheel design plus the addition of Laguna Blue Pearl as an exterior color.
According to John Mendel Senior Vice President of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., “"Never content to leave well-enough alone, we're committed to maintaining the S2000's performance and technological leadership in its segment. It's a car designed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, and it represents the ultimate expression of the fun-to-drive characteristic found in all Honda vehicles."
The S2000 is powered by 2.2-liter, DOHC, VTEC™ (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) 4-cylinder engine that remains to be the pinnacle of naturally aspirated performance technology revving 237 horsepower at 7,800 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque at 6,800 rpm. To complement the engine’s output is a compact, longitudinally mounted, close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission that features a direct linkage for precise shifting and short throws.
Also new in S2000 is Honda’s Vehicle Stability Assist system which makes it more stable and easier to control especially during street driving or in inclement weather conditions. VSA is working together with the Drive-by-Wire System to continuously monitor the yaw rate, steering input, throttle input as well as the braking pressure in order to determine if the car is following the intended path set by the driver.
Standard features of the S2000 include:
• Power retractable convertible top
• 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels
• Leather tirmmed seats
• High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps
• Aluminum hardtop
• XMO Satellite Radio
• Power windows
• Power door locks
• Keyless entry
• Outside temperature gauge
• Maintenance minder system

Riston pin locks with KB pistons?
I am building a street/strip motor for my camaro, I have an isky 274mega cam, edelbrock performer rpm intake with a holley 750, WP sportsman 2 heads, and scat prostock I beam rods with a scat cast steel crank, I have been looking through summit and I am thinking about going with these pistons UEM-9902HC040-8, they are flat tops with 2 valve relieves they are keith black pistons, I want to know if these will come with the pin locks or if I am going to have to buy them seperate, also I have tried to contact iskendarian about what stall I need for this cam and they havent responded, it has a 2200-6500 rpm powerband according to them and for a similar cam in their catologue with the same rpm range they say it can use stock stall, I think it is probably going to need 2000-2400rpm stall, the cams specs are in./ex. durration 274/274 @.050 227/227 lift in./ex. .520/.520 with my 1.6 rockers lca is 108, overlap is 58 deg. Thank you
Ok, 1st off I would not rec KB hyper pistons. They have had the highest failure rate of all the hyper pistons. They expend (swell) more than other brands and can cause the end gaps of rings to butt together and that leads to broke off ring lands. Even KB tells you to file the rings to a larger gap when using those pistons.
Speed pro/sealed power is the better hyper pistons.
Looks like its a press fit or floating pin lock.. What type lock is your rods? I think the pro comp scat rods are floating. Most likly you will have to buy the locks
Your gonna backwards on your build though. You need to pick pistons (compression ratio) before you do a cam. The cam has to match the compression to keep it from pinging or having lack of low rpm torque.
Your 227* @.050" 108 LSA cam can't work with too high of compression. I would say 10:1 is max and thats pushing it before you get detonation due to too high of cyl pressure.
Those pistons should be ok with that cam though
That combo will need atleast a 2600 stall converter but a 2800 would be better
