On River Repair of Tear or Tube Leak (Hypolon/rubber)-Part I: Be Prepared

First things first: If you want to enjoy your trip with fewer worries, control what you can control. That means having your patch/repair kit up to snuff by the beginning of the season. When I worked in boat repair it was always dark comedy when some ill-prepared boater would come into the shop looking for repair items the day before their trip. It also means having all you equipment checked-out. I was at the put-in on a commercial trip with a private party with three big guys doing the wishful thinking of willing mass quantities of duct-tape to patch a faulty p.r. valve on a self-bailing inflatable kayak. They ended up throwing their $600 I.K. back in their rig with a dark cloud over their trip. Bummer! Checkout your boats and equipment and your patch kit well in advance of your trip!

For my kits I like to include at least the following:

o 2 kinds of fabric: something heavyweight and a lighter weight material. I will have a roll that is as wide as a 50 cal. Ammo can running about 3 feet. The lighter weight material should be flexible if you need to set an inside patch; or, if its going to travel across a compromised seam. On the new sheets of fabric I pre-buff the back at home to get the shine off the inside of the fabric. I do that with a hand-held drill and a 2-inch sandpaper flap wheel. On the river you will be able to freshen this buffing by hand with sandpaper.

o A 1/2 or 1 pint can of FRESH one-part shore adhesive (for hypolon).

o (2-3) 1-inch foam brushes.

o A 1/2 pint of Toluene.

o 4-5 paper towels, or 2 clean lint-free rags.

o A medium pair of scissors is a luxury for trimming nice rounded corners on your work.

o A small roller with a narrow wheel is one way to apply pressure to a patch. Any smooth object with rounded corners that can withstand heavy pressure can work: tablespoon, spatula, etc.

o Duct-tape.

o There are some new products like Tear-Aid Patch for tears and punctures. They perform the miracle work of stopping a leak on wet fabric where duct-tape fails (not matter how may layers you put on!). NRS carries a basic kit for $8.95 (cheaper than a good roll of duct-tape). You can get a roll for $24.95. On the river, I love stuff that works!

o I carry an extra value and p.r. valve for every type that may need replacing on a trip. (Don't forget the valve wrench specific for each valve).

o Extra valve cover.

o Fill adapters for specialized valves.

o Screwdriver (for military value replacement).

o Pair of pliers.

o I also carry an extra oarlock in my kit. They "never" break but if one did, it would be a major drag on your fun.

Seawater Desalination :

 

The world has total of 1.65 billion km3 of water. However, only 0.3 of the total quantity is

Pressure Sand Filters (Total suspended solid Removal) :

 

Canadian clear filters provide crystal clear water of turbidity level less than 2 to 3 mg/ltr

on silica scale. Horizontal and vertical filters are available in a complete range and size

from 0.25 m 3 /hr to 500 m 3 /hr. Normal filtering medium employed is clean sieved

grade quartz and fine sand. For applications like iron removal, chlorine reduction special

type / filter media are available. The filters are manufactured in SS 316, SS 304, MS FRP as well as FRP Advance Composite. A wide range of chemical dozing equipment is specially designed to meet the specific water quality level. For Mineral Water industry special TSS and Absorption Filters are designed to meet the specific water quality level.

 

Iron Removal Filters :

 

This filter has been designed by Canadian Clear with specific purpose of removing high

iron content from water. The iron removal filter uses mno 2 and Oxidation System to

eliminate the presence of iron in water. Sizes ranging from 250 lph to 5,00,000 lph are in the standard production range.

 

Containerized Desalination Plants :

 

Canadian Clear has over the years built specialized containerized brackish water and sea water plants keeping focus on relief agencies, war time army requirements, make shift facilities as well as sea side resorts. Such units are also widely used in off shore oil rigs.

_ Reverse Osmosis:

Canadian Clear specializes in reverse osmosis water purification system. The product

Micron Filters :

 

The elements manufactured from 100% imported PVDF polypropylene, glass fibre

ranging from 30 microns to 0.1 micron.

Demineralizers :

 

The system range from two-bed demineralizer to mixed bed polishers capable of

producing treated water of purity required for any specific application. Water

conductivity is less than 0.1 micro seimen can be achieved. Canadian Clear offers wide

range of demineralizers rang ing from packaged type units to large custom built

installations. Manual, semi automatic plants are available. The units are supplied with

chemical handling, resin regeneration system comprising rubber lined steel vessels and

tanks and also rubber lined steel piping with cast iron rubber lined diaphragm valves

which ensure fail-safe operation as well as Advance Composite FRP Vessels.

 

Activated Carbon Filters

 

Canadian Clear provides wide range of Activated Carbon filters to cater to the need of

smell, odour and colour removal,. The Canadian Clear Activated Carbon Filters also

remove chlorine and unwanted gases. Special Activated Carbon is used for removal of

pesticide.

 

Chemical Dosers

Ozonators :

 

OZONE is the most powerful commercial oxidant in the world. It has been used primarily

as disinfectant for drinking water since the early 1900's. Its is also useful for waste water

disinfections and malodorous off gases from waste water treatment plants. Because ozone

must be generated on site for immediate use, this is best done through an ozone

generator. The advantage of ozone for commercially treating waste water is that it

destroys bacteria, inhibits algae growth and reduces scaling in problem areas. It has faster

reaction rate than chemicals and only oxidation not chlorination, takes places.

 

Ultraviolet Water Disinfection System :

 

A variety ranging from 75 lt./hr to 500m 3 /hr. A proven system destroys all germs, virus,

bacteria and algae present in the water using Teflon tube technology of DUPONT (U.S.A.)

 

Base Exchange Softeners :

 

Canadian Clear range of softeners are from standard packaged- type-skid mounted and

large custom build installation. Units are available manually controlled or semi or fully

automatic. Canadian Clear softeners are suitable for treating water for low and medium

pressure boilers are well as for process use. The units are perfectly engineered to ensure trouble free and long lasting service with minimum operating and maintenance cost.

How to adjust valves on dodge dart?

ok 1976 dodge dart sport that needs tune up and im doing it and i have my valve cover off so i figured i do adjust the valves too. only problem is, ive only ever done it on a newer motor. ill try to include a picture too. if you could help me out it would be great. by the way its a 3.7 225 slant 6. ive heard of people using screw drivers to look for clicking but i dont know. Thanks if you could give me a step be step.
