If you're looking for serious performance enhancement and more speed and power out of your 3800 then the way to go is get yourself a supercharger kit. A supercharger kit includes all the important parts that you would need in order to give your 3800 a supercharger conversion; and you can do it all in just one weekend with the proper kit.
Basically, a supercharger kit would contain the parts that you would use for the 3800. You get a pair of heads, fuel injectors and fuel rails because you need to have fuel injection system installed before supercharging (however some newer aspirated cars would need fuel injector adaptors), a pair of 3.8" pulleys, lower intake manifold, valve covers, MAP sensor, coil bracket and of course supercharger and a throttle body. And a kit would also include all the bolts, vacuum lines and other parts and accessories that you would need to put it all together in your very own garage. However, some kits wouldn't come with gaskets and bolts and some other smaller accessories. These kits are recommended only for those with the proper experience and knowledge because they can source these parts correctly. But if you are not an experienced builder and you do not have access to these smaller parts and accessories fret not, because you can also purchase an installation kit complete with all the smaller parts that you need to give your car a supercharger conversion in a few days. These installation kits include the supercharger gasket, a pair of head gaskets, fuel injector O-rings among others. Also, you would need to purchase a belt available in any parts store. The proper size is 6 rib 68" belt.
If you plan to enter your 3800 in a race circuit or street racing then it is best to supercharge it first. If you have the proper knowledge in installing these parts and you know your way around the block then you can purchase your own supercharger kit and you can install it yourself in just a few days. If however, you do not have the knowledge and skills for this, then it is best to buy the parts either one by one or by kit and have someone install it for you. But be warned, supercharging is not cheap. It could set you back around £2500 to £4000 depending on who will install it and how you would acquire the parts. But the resulting performance could be well worth all the time, money and effort put into the project.

Are Diesel Engines Better than Gasoline Engines?
Are diesel engines really better than those running on gasoline?
I’ll differentiate one from the other, and see for yourself which one is really a better pick.
Gasoline or petrol cars are running on engines called ‘spark ignition’ engines. On the other hand, diesel engines are called ‘compression engines’ as they use compressed air to burn into spark in order to start. Compression ignition is used to burn fuel. This fuel is injected to the combustion chamber in the final compression stage.
In gasoline engines, Otto cycle is used which ignites a fuel and air mixture using a spark plug. This fuel and air mixture burns and expands, forcing the piston to go down. Fuel and air are pre-mixed prior to compression. Pre-mixing backwards electronic age used to happen in a carburetor. Presently, pre-mixing is already fuel injection that is electronically-controlled. Despite the high speed of gasoline engines due to fuel and air pre-mixing, it has limited compression, which translates to lower efficiency.
Higher compression ratio in diesel engines results to better fuel efficiency compared to that in gas engines. Compression ratio is a very big factor in raising efficiency in fuel consumption. At engine idle and at low power, diesel engines are usually more efficient than the equivalent gasoline powered engines. This is because diesel engines do not have the butterfly valve or throttle which usually closes at idle. That is the basic reason why most engines in railways, agriculture, and marine are on diesel which can be left idle for so many hours, and even for so many days.
Diesel engines also last longer than gas engines and for its entire lifetime, savings of fuel will accumulate higher due to the fact that it lasts longer. This is because gasoline destroys lubrication while diesel won’t.
Engine weight affects speed, and since diesel are built heavier, gas engines are always lighter, and would therefore be faster when it comes to cars at high speed. Although, cars which are built heavier have more torque.
It is also a known fact that diesel engines consume 30% lesser fuel than gasoline engines which would have lesser consequent carbon emissions. Believe it or not, diesel engines are also a lot safer as these produce almost no carbon monoxide, which makes these engines safer to the environment.
Tests are able to show that Nitrogen Oxides are higher in new diesel engines compared to that of new gasoline engines. However as both engines cover approximately 50,000 miles, their oxides tend to level. Later on, gas engines produce higher oxides than diesel engines beyond 50,000 miles. Believe it or not, diesel engines always have more advantages over gasoline cars, economically speaking.

Does anyone have a diagram for the removal of a 1999 Cavalier's valve cover?
I am trying to help my mother save money by replacing the valve cover gasket, but I cannot get to it. There are two things fastened to it, which I don't know the name of and I cannot find whatever is holding the first item in place.
I removed the air hose, a single bolt, a hose to the valve cover, and loosened a fastener behind the engine near the firewall, but this thing still won't budge. I'm sure if I can get it removed the rest will be easier.
