Can replacing the valve cover gaskets on a 1999 ford mustang gt 4.6l be done on your own?

How many valve cover gaskets are in this car ( i think 2, please confirm...)? can this job be done on my own? it looks like the 2 covers are fairly easy to take off as they are on the black covers on the left and right side of the engine, am i correct?
how could i end up with an oil leak? like one of the answers below state?

yes 2, made of rubber, yes you can do it yourself. The oil leak could be caused by not using some sealer where the front cover and the head meet. Just need to dap a little silicone at the joint. You will see it and there should be some old that you will need to remove before applying the silicone. I haven't really seen a valve cover gasket leak on a 4.6.
