The system consists of an oil separator located under valve cover valve cover gasket number 103 016 04 21 for replacment, distribution tube on intake manifold, and return flow tube. California models are equipped with a diaphragm regulating valve located in the oil separator.
When the engine is running, blow-by gases flow through the oil separator, and to the distribution tube on the intake manifold, through a connecting hose. Oil from the separator returns to the cylinder head through the return flow tube.
On Mercedes Bens California models, the diaphragm regulating valve is used to prevent excessive vacuum from forming in crankcase.
The system consists of an oil separator located in the valve cover, idle speed air distributor 000 141 22 25, and a connecting hose.
When the engine is operating under high intake manifold vacuum, blow-by gases flow out of the valve cover, through the by-pass bore in the idle speed air distributor 000 141 22 25, and into the intake manifold idle speed air passage. A small amount of filtered air is drawn into system through the by-pass hole.
When the engine is operating at low or no intake manifold vacuum, blow-by gases flow into the air cleaner where they are mixed with filtered air before burning. Make sure you always check your engine maintanance guide.

The system consists of an oil separator located in the valve cover, idle speed air distributor, coolant lines and connecting hoses, idle speed air line.
When the engine is operating under high intake manifold vacuum, blow-by gases flow out of the valve cover, through the by-pass bore in the idle speed air distributor, and into the intake manifold idle speed air passage. A small amount of filtered air is drawn into system through the by-pass hole.
When the engine is operating at low or no intake manifold vacuum, blow-by gases flow into the air cleaner where they are mixed with filtered air before burning. If needed replace the air filter number 003 094 54 04.
To ensure against vent line freezing, coolant is routed to vent line from cylinder head. Coolant returns to water pump through coolant return line..
The system consists of a fresh air hose from air cleaner to right cylinder head cover, a breather hose from left cylinder head cover hose number 103 094 10 82, an orifice, and a connection to intake system.
During idle or low speed operation, vapors are drawn through the orifice, into the idle air distribution tubes, then into the intake manifold. Fresh air to vent the engine comes through the air cleaner and right cylinder head cover hose. During high speed operation the vapors are drawn in through the air cleaner and burned.
The crankcase ventilation system is maintenance free, but hoses should be checked to ensure that they are not cracked and are free of obstructions.

Fuel oil handling Systems (FOHS) and storage tanks
Fuel Oil Handling:
Thermo System undertakes complete Design, Engineering, Supply, Fabrication, Installation, Erection, Testing & Commissioning
of FOHS for different type of fuels (HFO, HSD, LDO, Naphtha etc) to be stored. Complete mechanical, electrical and
instrumentation is covered.
Typical Fuel Oil Handling System consists of unloading hose, decanting and transfer facilities, pumping and heating unit (if
applicable), bulk storage tank, day tank and the process utility piping.
Unloading Skid:
Used for unloading the fuel from tankers / wagons through hoses
A typical unloading skid consists of
Suction strainers
Pumps with drives
Instrumentation (pressure, temperature & flow)
Interconnecting piping with valves mounted on a common base frame
Bulk Storage Tank:
Designed to API 650 and IS 803 standards to accommodate the Fuel Oil unloaded from tankers / wagons. These can be vertical
fixed / floating roof tanks with material of construction of SS 316 / SS304 / Carbon steel.
A typical storage tank consists of
Electrical / steam heaters
Flame and lightings arresters
Breather valves
Instrumentation (level and temperature)
Thermal insulation
Transfer Skid:
Used for transferring the fuel from storage tanks to the day tanks
A typical transfer skid consists of
suction strainers
pumps with drives
instrumentation (pressure, termperature & flow)
interconnecting piping with valves
inline heaters on the pump discharge line mounted on a common base frame.
Day Tanks:
Designed to accommodate the day’s requirement of fuel and located near the utility point.
Pumping & Heating (PHF) Unit:
PHF unit is used to transfer the fuel from day tanks to the utility point i.e. boiler firing, furnace firing, engine etc at a
required pressure, temperature & flowrate.
A typical PHF unit consists of:
Inline Heater.
Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, viscosity etc)
Pressure regulating / control valves
The balance scope as described in the transfer skid.
Piping:
The total process utility piping (CS/SS) - starting from unloading point to utility point along with the necessary
accessories and instrumentation.
Electrical:
This comprises of power distribution from control instruments like RTDs, thermostats etc. for control and monitoring of
various parameters in the system.

Engine knock and white smoke after supercharger install?
I installed a supercharger on a 06' Silverado 5.3L. and white smoke is comming out of the hood through the valve cover breather. I also hear engine knocking about a minute after ignition. I think its a piston that couldnt handle it. What else could be the case?
A camshaft was also installed at the same time with new valve springs as well.
What color is your oil? It sounds like the intake gasket is blown and you're losing boost into the crankcase. Possibly water too. That would explain the smoke. The giveaway will be milky oil. A piston won't cause a delayed knock, it will be instant and constant. Look for internal oil leaks. Did anyone check the valve to piston clearance when the cam was installed? A broken or dislodged lifter will cause a delayed knock because the oil pump is able to keep up until the oil starts to warm and the oil pressure relief valve closes. At any rate, you're going to have to pull the top end of the engine apart and inspect the intake gasket. If it's not, then you're going to have to pull the heads and check them and their gaskets as well. Good luck.
Moto3 rules announced
