Whether your intention is to drive a luxury hauler that owns the road, or a hard-nosed work truck that can handle the pounding, the Ford F-450 Super Duty lineup of vehicles can answer the call. Its standard engine is a 5.4-liter V-8 that will deliver enough power to meet most demands, but it's available with two options capable of delivering either more power or a cleaner-burning ride.
The standard 5.4-liter gives out 300 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, and delivers 365-feet/pound of torque at 3,750 rpm. A jump to the impressive 6.8-liter V-10 boosts output to 362 horsepower at 4,750 rpm, with 457-feet/pound of torque at 3,250 rpm. In addition, Ford also offers an optional 6.4-liter Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V-8 engine, an all-new addition in 2008. With 350 horsepower at 3,000 rpm and 650-feet/pound of torque at 2,000 rpm, the diesel entry marries Ford's acclaimed Power Stroke technology with its best-selling line of trucks. In all cases, the F-450 engines is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a Torqshift five-speed automatic transmission.
Big, beefy and boasting power unlike any other vehicle, it almost seems odd that the F-450 lineup is available to everyday truck buyers. Truth is, it wasn't that long ago when it wasn't. Until the 2008 model year, Ford only sold its F-450 lineup to commercial and institutional buyers to be used as tow trucks, ambulances and moving trucks. Since then, the engines offered haven't changed much, only some of the amenities have improve to meet the demands of today's demanding driver. But power? No, the F-450 hasn't seen much need to add to that. Then again, how much more power do you really need or want to drive the office and back?

Gonow X-space Turbo Diesel Range Launch
The 3 turbo-diesel 2.8 litre models enter the market at R127 990 for the highly specced single cab up to R154 990 for the luxury extension double cabin version.
Engine and drive-train
The diesel driven models are powered by a fuel-injected, turbo charged version of a proven Japanese engine with a long and trusted track record.
This 2.8-litre four-cylinder engine has a bore and stroke of 93 x 102 developing 210 Nm of torque.
All X-Space models launched are 4x2 rear-wheel drive units with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The brakes, steering and suspension are identical in all models – dual-circuit vacuum assisted hydraulic brakes with load sensing front discs and drums at the rear; power assisted hydraulic rack and pinion steering; independent front suspension with torsion bar spring and leaf springs at the rear.
Single-cab
The single-cab entry level X-Space TD has the biggest load box of the three derivatives, measuring 2385x1470x440mm on the inside. This translates to a loading capacity of 1 025kg, making it a full 1-ton payload.
As freight lugging work horse the single-cab turbo diesel comes in one variant – the 2,8TD (Deluxe) seating the driver and 1 passenger in individual fully adjustable seats.
The TD single-cab equipment includes a radio/CD, electric windows and side mirrors, superior cloth seats, leather clad steering wheel, remote central locking, 6-stud alloy wheels with 215/75R15 rubber, air-conditioning, power steering, side protection beadings, PVC floor covering, adjustable steering wheel, head rests, fog lamps, digital odometer, sun visor mirrors and a leather gear knob.
The 2.8TDS single-cab will launch at a suggested retail of R127 990.
Double-cab
The new turbo diesel double cab version boast extra space for up to 5 occupants with a bench seat in the rear.
The double-cab has a loading capacity of 1 025kg – the same as that of the single-
cab – with the load box on the standard double-can measuring 1480x1470x440. The full vehicle length of the double-cab is identical to that of the single-cab and comes in at 5 180mm.
Inside the double-cab versions have in addition to the same standard equipment as that of the single-cab versions, full leather interior with aluminium side steps added to the bigger passenger cabin versions (standard and extended double-cab).
The 2.8 diesel turbo double cab is launching only in the luxury specification at a
suggested retail of R149 990
Extended double-cab
To avoid any confusion – the two double-cab bakkies have identical 5-seater passenger cabins and luxury equipment levels. The difference as far as the extended wheel-base is concerned, comes with the size of the 1-ton load box.
The X-Space double-cab LWB comes with a 1835x1470x440mm load box,
extending the overall vehicle length to 5535mm. The much longer load box allows for the safe and easy transport of bulkier loads weighing it at no more than 1 025kg.
The 2.8 diesel turbo extended double is also launching only in the luxury specification
at R154 990

1997 GMC Savana?
My 97 Gmc Savana,6.5 turbo diesel's vacuum pump is not rotating at all times when engine is running, causing my fan belt to squel like the hammers of hell.Is it supposed to rotate all the time?Or is it worn out with 227,000 miles on it?They run around 200 bucks for a reman one and I want to be sure Im right by replacing it beforehand. Can the get clogged up and be cleaned out at all??
The pump will stop rotating, usually at engine startup then rotate after a minute or so,and it cuase hard lag on my alternator while its not rotating.Sorry for the after the fact edit.
If the pump is not rotating all the time then it's due for replacement. They are not supposed to stop while engine is running. 227K miles is a lot of miles for any engine component.
