Dental Question -- 10 POINTS TO BEST ANSWER?

I am suppose to get my braces off next month where I soon after would get a surgery where they put titanium implants in my gums and for 4-6 months afterwards I would wear a retainer that has two false teeth attached to it as a replacement for the two teeth that are not there, and after the 4-6 months I would get real teeth put in. My question is that instead of having to wear the retainer, would my orthodontist allow me to keep my braces on but on a stable setting? I just know that I would be humiliated having to take out the retainer when I am eating with friends or doing anything with my mouth at all. Please help!

What you suggest is a possibility you could discuss with your orthodontist but you may well be surprised how well you will be able to function with eating etc with the retainer and the 2 false teeth attached to it. Most people ate able to eat normally with the retainer and might only need to take it out if eating a caramel apple or other such tough foods.
