It is so tempting when you have a number of business proposals or business projects to complete, and there's little time, to use some standard proposal format and just fill in the blanks. You add a few variations to that basic format and off it goes to the client. It saves you money and time, but is this cookie cutter proposal worth it?
Possibly in the short run, but definitely not the long run. Just ask General Motors and Ford. GMs Pontiac and Oldsmobile models were not significantly different from Chevrolet and Buick in platform, parts and design. The Ford Tempo and Mercury Topaz were clones of each other. Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Mercury divisions no longer exist. The moral? Avoid cookie cutters.
The client wants to know that you have developed a proposal specially for them; that you consider the client so important that you want to establish a relationship based on integrity and trust, not some second-hand proposal you've pulled out of the files. Remember, the client may see a lot of proposals. If it's a major project that needs to be done, they've probably asked for bids from half a dozen companies like yours. They want to see something distinctive, something that identifies you as a bidder to be seriously considered. You do not want to damage that impression. Cookie cutter proposals place your reputation at risk.
There are a couple of additional points I want to make about this:
- Your thinking about the project
- You are prone to making mistakes
If you use an existing business proposal as the basis for a new one, there's a real danger that the original and creative thinking required by this new proposal is completed half heartedly or not done at all. In my experience, each proposal or project has its own unique characteristics, its special issues and concerns that need to be addressed. Failing to do justice to this uniqueness means that you also fail to take care of the integrity involved in the client relationship.
It is extremely embarrassing to find that you have submitted a proposal to a client but failed to notice that it contained a piece of information, or a name, that referred to a different business. When you use an existing business proposal as the basis for a new one, you increase the odds of making this kind of error. I've seen it happen. It will almost certainly rule you out of the running for the client's business.
The client deserves the best possible proposal from your organization. Even if yours is not the winning proposal, it indicates your integrity and helps establish a relationship for future business. So please eliminate from your thinking any cookie cutter business proposal that you might be considering. It's simply not worth it.

Ford Contour: It Really Talks With Air
The Ford Contour is a commuter car that marketed & manufactured by Ford Motor Company in USA. It was the American version of Ford's CDW27 planet car plan that affected also in Contour's twin; the first generation Ford Mondeo manufactured & launched somewhere else around the world. Moreover, the Contour had a Mercury model generally known as Mercury Mystique. Both the versions were presented with 4 door sedan body look. The Mystique & Contour substituted earlier Ford's North American mid range versions, the Mercury Topaz & Ford Tempo & were categorized by EPA as squashed vehicles.
The Mystique & Contour were introduced in late 1994 as 1995 models & nonstop up till 2000, when they went out of manufacture with no a straight substitution in Ford's lineup in Canada & USA, whereas in Mexico, Ford restored the Contour with a nearby produced variation of the European Ford Mondeo.
The base engine of the Ford Contour was a 2,000 cc, that generates 125 HP at the rate of 5,500 revolutions per minute, SAE and 93 kW, 130 ft lb , 176 Nm at the rate of 4,000 revolutions per minute, 2.0-liter dual overhead cam 4 cylinder. Ford Contour was also launched with unleaded fuel & Multi point injection fuel system. The car has 55 liter fuel tank. Standard on the SE & optional on others: a 170 HP, 2.5 liter dual-cam V6, with 4 valves for every cylinder. Contours could have a standard 5 speed manual transmissions or optional 4 speed automatic transmission. Ford added a 195 horsepower model of the V6 in 1998. It lunched with the 5 speed manual transmission. Be short of of acceleration in less than temperature 32° F on the 2.5 liter engine is regular because of hoarfrost on the throttle plate that causes engine misfire. Also, engine gets overheated of 2.5 liter engines because of wrecked plastic water pump impeller blades.
In the 1996 Ford Contour, to get better the back seat space, backsides of the front seats were scraped out that made the more space of leg room. During the 1996 model year, back seat pillows were moved to make a little more head & leg room. Chrome bumper flooring was removed. A Contour Sport model introduced in April 1996 in standard GL or upscale LX series. For 1999 Contour, they have dropped the GL & base models, leaving only the SE, LX & SVT versions. SE & LX versions got more racing suspension style & all versions got a somewhat bigger fuel tank.
