If you are planning to put up a fish tank or an aquarium at home and you are looking for some nice fishes to take home as pets, you may want to opt for the Cichlid freshwater fish. The Cichlids are of different color and body shape and are generally easy to take care of, thus they can be great additions to your fish tank.

But of course, you have to learn a few tips and tricks in order to raise them and take good care of them. A healthy fish is one that you would surely love to have as a pet, so make sure that you know how to take care of your fishes too.

Before you scramble to your pet shop and get those Cichlids, you have to prepare their home as well. Make sure that you have set up everything before bringing the fishes home. Here are some of the things that you need to prepare.

- Wash and clean your fish tank thoroughly. Do not use soap for cleaning as it can be harmful for your fishes.

- Choose a permanent location for your fish tank. Do not put it somewhere else thinking that you can move it later. Moving your fish tank with water in it can be unsafe and may cause leakage as well.

- Add properly washed rocks, sand and gravel into the tank. Put it slowly and make sure you also add enough objects in the tank. Cichlids love rocks more than plants, thus you may want to put more rocks than plants on your fish tank. Keep in mind that Cichlid freshwater fish also have the habit of digging into the sand or into the bottom of rocks, thus make sure t o fix these objects firmly on the tank to avoid harming your Cichlids.

Adding more objects in your tank can also help you deal with Cichlid aggression as this can help them mark their territory with these objects as boundaries. Without rocks and objects on your fish tank, the Cichlid would think of the entire tank as his territory, thus may become aggressive to other species placed on the tank.

- Fill the aquarium with three-quarters water and make sure to set it to the right pH level and temperature. You can also invest on a heater for your Cichlid freshwater fish as well. Make sure the temperature is around 76 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and the pH at 7.5 to 8.5. For a pH beyond that, you can also add limestone, crushed corals and gravel to make the water alkaline.

- Make sure also that your fish tank is not placed in direct sunlight as this can cause the water temperature to fluctuate and thus harming the fishes.

If you are done setting up your aquarium, let it sit for twenty-four hours so that you can let the Chlorine evaporate and the temperature of the water or the tank is stabilized - only then that you will be ready to get your Cichlid freshwater fish on the pet shop and bring them to their new home.

Marlins are characterized as big game saltwater fish. The average weight of a blue marlin is anywhere from one hundred to five hundred pounds. Their bodies can reach the length of ten feet and they are mainly found in the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans. i'm assuming you mean a blue tongue skink. In my opinion, and this is just an opinion, no. They are huge when fully grown and an adult can either purposly or accidentally cause a lot of damange to a juvy. The one I'm working with now is a piggy with his food (so far the only thing he won't eat is parsley) and can get very excited about his crickets and worms. The older skink may mistake a tail or arm of a little one as food. However, I do not have an official answer for you if it is possible, I just wouldn't do it.
