When you think about steel water tanks, chances are you picture a large tank high in the air being used by a farm or ranch. But the truth is, steel tanks are the traditional water tanks that have been used for ages in the house. However with the advent of poly water tanks and concrete water tanks, they now have some serious competition. Still, they are in use everywhere in offices and in any place where you need a large amount of water.
There are a lot of advantages to using steel. They can resist fire and are termite proof as well. In addition to this, they are not at all affected by the harsh weather conditions. Their sturdiness is what still makes them popular. Even the plastic, fiberglass or poly tanks could not replace these tanks in terms of durability.
Steel tanks can be placed underground and set up to catch rainwater. Then with a simple pipe to your home you have an economical and conservation friendly way to use water from the sky.
But just because they are called water tanks, don't be fooled into thinking that is the only use for them. Sometimes they are used to store chemicals that can eat through tanks made from other materials. And we even know of people who use them to store goods like canned food, bottled water, and blankets that they can access in case of an emergency.
These steel tanks are quite economical. So the pocket pinch can be little less if you decide this is the way you want to go. They will generally last as long as you need them to provided they are taken care of properly. Fifty to 60 years is not uncommon. They have system which can effortlessly dispose water whenever needed.
Steel water tanks are easy to install. In fact they can be installed very quickly. They are ready made tanks unlike the concrete ones. However it needs to be added that these tanks are preferably used as header tanks and not as reservoir tanks.
These water tanks are also very low on maintenance. But you need to make sure that you clean them periodically for health and safety reasons. The fact that they are painted with an anti corrosion paint inside the tanks protects them from corrosion and leaching so your water drinkable and safe if that's what you choose to use it for.
You can find steel water tanks in just about any store that specializes in water storage. If you don't have one near you, that's not a problem. You can also locate plenty of dealers with a quick Internet search. In fact by doing this you'll not only get a better selection, you'll be able to read customer reviews to find out which tank is best for you. And you'll be able compare prices to make sure you don't overspend. And there's no high pressure salesman there pushing you into something you may not need.
Steel tanks are available in various shapes and sizes so finding one that will fit nicely where you need it to should not be a problem. Overall steel water tanks are eco friendly and are not at harmful for anyone.

Top Tips for Adding the Soothing Sounds of a Water Feature
Practically speaking, any garden can be improved by the addition of a water feature, but space and maintenance requirements will usually dictate that a compact (typically 1.0m – 1.8m diameter) Reservoir Water feature be used. The functionality of Reservoir features is simplicity in itself. Water is pumped from a sunken or concealed container up through the decorative element for example a stone boulder (but other popular choices are Stainless Steel and Driftwood) to trickle over the feature and drain back into the reservoir. The process is repeated, no running water supply is required to operate such features and apart from an occasional top up of the water level during prolonged hot spells, these water features are virtually maintenance free.
Despite their size limitations, reservoir water features are a compelling and visually attractive addition to any garden irrespective of style or size. Appearance can also be enhanced by positioning river cobbles, ornamental Grasses and low growing specimen trees nearby.
Water features are also very popular for their sound effects of cascading water which many people enjoy for its soothing relaxing effects. This offers much potential to introduce a dynamic dimension and transform an area of the garden which would be very difficult to achieve with planting. Because of their compelling appeal, water features are best used as discreet sculptural forms and ideally positioned within well planted areas.
Always eye catching and because of the mesmerizing appeal and sound of running water, it is no surprise that on or near the main Patio is the most popular position for water features. Careful attention to the detailing of the water feature and a thoughtful selection of plants will result in superb compositions. Stone and water are very important elements and no garden is complete without the sound of water gently cascading over stones.
Extend the enjoyment hours of your new water feature into the night by adding some adjustable angle spots/garden lights to provide some dramatic visual interest and striking silhouettes of the water feature and planting forms.

I got some ghost shrimp at Seletar reservoir, but they don't seem active in the tank, nor are they eating. Help!?
1. I caught them with nets
2. Please do not tell me I need a fishing licence
3. I caught some small brown fish along with the ghost shrimp, here are some details about the fish
a. they are about 2.5cm-3cm long
b. they are found in shallow water lying on the floor
c. they live in sandy, rocky floors and camouflage very well
d. they are sandy, brownish in colour
Please tell me what these fishes are, 2 of the 8 fishes just died...
Best answer for both of these questions win 10 points!!!
d. the fish do not have sucker mouths
Do you have the shrimp in salt water? Did you keep a little bit of the water that you caught them in and add it to the tank? The fish you caught sound like mud-suckers (mud minnows). Feed the minnows jumbo red worms and feed your shrimp some betta food.
