What's wrong with my 5.0? I own a 91 Ford Mustang GT automatic that started making a strange engine noise.
I came out of the gas station and heard the noise for the first time. I looked at the oil pressure gauge and it was bouncing around just above the red on the bottom of the gauge. I drove it home, 1.5 miles, shut it off, and now i have the oil pump out of the car. The pump turns well and does pump oil when i tried it manually. The oil pump driveshaft has a washer looking retainer towards an end, and it is broken and only half is still attatched to the driveshaft!!! The bottom of the distributor didn't look bad? What should i do? I already have a new high volume oil pump w/driveshaft. did the driveshaft drop out of the distributor and start slipping? I dont want to put all this back together and find out the strange noise is still present. HELP ME PLEASE!! I need to get this car going so i can sell it. It is in great shape otherwise. I own 2 other mustang gt's. I want to make shure before i put EVERYTHING back on
make sure the keeper is set right on the oil pump shaft and also make sure you have the right oil pump shaft b/c 5.o's have two diffrent one's . one is long and one is short.
1999 GMC Jimmy SLS from North America - Comments
I've got a 1992 GMC Jimmy, with 272,200km on it, it's on its 4th owner, and it's been maintained. It's engine is feeling it's age, but otherwise it's in relatively good shape, the gas mileage is nothing noteworthy, neither good or bad, it's average for it's class.
