Right about now you might be asking yourself, "why would people use straight scissors then"? Let me just ask you a question, "Why do people smoke"? I am not saying if you use straight scissors you are going to get an injury, but your chances are definitely increased.

3. Cobalt/Stainless Firstly, Cobalt, being softer steel, allows the manufacturer to hone (honing is used in the manufacturing of precision tools to improve the geometry, surface finish and dimensional control of the finished part) a very sharp edge, this is usually done with a laser. A laser cut edge is perfect for slice cutting. To maintain this edge, cobalt will need to be sharpened more often. Secondly, Stainless is much more durable but cannot be laser cut. This means the blade of a Stainless scissor cannot reach as sharp an edge of a Cobalt scissor. Though the edge on a stainless scissor will hold out for much longer then on a Cobalt scissor even when cutting dry hair.

4. Small/Large Finger Holes SIMPLY PUT: If you got pork sausages, use bigger finger holes!

5. Short/Medium/Long - Overall Length of Scissor Length of scissor is measured from the tip of the blade to the finger hole. You should go with what's most comfortable in your hand. But consider this; when taking a section of hair and cutting, for example using a 4.5" scissor you will need to cut three sections to every one you could make with a 6" scissor. Not only do longer scissors save time, they also help to create one straight section resulting in a more even cut. The most popular sizes sold are between 5" and 6" but I suggest using what's most comfortable for you.

Beware! Recently there has been a massive increase in Chinese imported scissors. Some of these imports are created using low-grade steel but they are being portrayed as high quality products. Be on your guard when choosing the tools for your craft.

Is a trackball mouse better than an optical one?

I use a computer a lot and I use a mouse a lot and I have a fairly nice optical mouse that I have had for quite a while but I do have some wrist pains occasionally while using it so I got one the wrist pads for it and that helped a lot but now I'm in need of a new mouse and I was wondering whether a trackball would be better. I'm not a gamer so I don't need a mouse for precision. If this is about comfort than yes a trackball mouse in the long run could be better for you in the long run, but this is really just a matter of preference than science. I prefer a laser mouse over optical due to accuracy (even in excel). The trackball is not my thing but it could be good for office work and help avoid CT injury with breaks.
