Paint. Since the solar panel is placed outdoor, it is necessary to protect the wood from elements such as precipitation, dew and moisture.

Diode. The diode ensures that electricity only flows from the solar panel into the battery, never in the opposite direction. This is to make sure that the battery is not discharged into the solar panel during the night.

Plexiglass. This is a protective cover over the solar cells. Plexiglass is often preferred over glass because it doesn't break easily and is easier to handle.

Battery. Having a battery ensures that your appliance continues to run even at night or on very cloudy days.

This is a large rectangle configuration allows for toggle or rocker switches. This is also available with single switch and outlet configurations

Phone/Cable Covers

These consist of a small hole drilled out in the center of the plate. These are not interchangeable however so be sure to select the appropriate style for a phone line or cable wire.

Will an exposed case fan wire for a pc melt the plastic wrap I am using to cover it?

I made a makeshift extension for my system fan wire to reach the plug in. But it resulted in some exposed wire. So to make sure I wouldn't short myself out, I cover it with Glad Press-n-Seal. Will the exposed thin wire generate enough heat to melt the plastic wrap?

It probably won't generate enough heat, but to be safe, you might want to use electrical tape. It will be a lot better in case the wire happens to touch other exposed wire and spark or something. The article below should be able to help you, but the cheapest tape will work.
