Oil was discovered in Dubai in the mid sixties of the last century. This discovery had a catalyst effect on the economy of Dubai which began to grow at a fast rate.The oil fields were not located on the mainland, but at a distance of about 115 km from the shore. They were referred to as off shore oil fields. Discovery of oil changed the face of this small state.
Oil served as the fuel for the economy and as the oil prices catapulted upwards in the seventies, the economy of Dubai also took off like a rocket. Dubai's face changed from a less affluent state to one of opulence and show. The economic boom was more like a miracle and the economy soared upwards.
The Dubai rulers being pragmatist realized that the oil boom may not last for perpetuity and looked for alternate means to keep the Dubai economy buoyant for ever. This was because the experts informed the present ruler Mohammed in no uncertain words that incase the production of oil continued at the present rate of four billion barrel a year, then the oil reserves would dry up by 2016. The rulers of Dubai thus formulated a plan to attract foreign capital and build a ultramodern city and financial hub.They tapped foreign equity and loans for this purpose and succeeded to a great extent.
Dubai is the odd man out as far as oil reserves is concerned and has an estimated two percent (at about 80,000 barrels a day now) of the about 98.2 billion barrels of UAE's oil. Thus as things stand oil contributes to less than six percent of its economy.
To develop the rulers now turned to borrowed Capital. To have a return on capital there parameters were integrated into the economy. One of the parameters adopted was real estate and its ancillaries like housing, sports and hospitality including state of the art luxury hotels. Grandiose schemes like islands in the ocean and golf course were set up or planned. But an economy built only on expatriate and borrowed capital was bound to nose dive at some point of time. Thus when Dubai World defaulted the lid was blown of a city built on sand that could slowly shift away. Dreams of grandeur do not succeed without natural resources and Dubai is poorly placed for them. Many scientists believe that the correction had to happen as the debts were going up with geometric progression.
This is the genesis of the present economic problems. Oil was the engine that launched the dream and it was sought to carry on the dream further with debt economy. It does not work that way. In the long run Dubai and its rulers will have a lot of thinking to do.
How to Handle Oil Leak in Your Harley Davidson
There are some ways you can do to deal with the blow-by oil leak in the sportster of your Harley motor cycle. One of the blow-by solutions from the factory is the blow-by vents which are so far from the vacuum. This is crated by carburetor inlet. This condition leads the blow-by to puddle in the bottom of the Sportster air filter housing and then leak into the engine.
One of the solutions you can do is to route the blow-by oil on the carburetor inlet. This is then made the blow-by oil suck into the carburetor of the Sportster. This will then lead the blow-by directly exit over the carburetor intake as what it should be.
The next you can do is to see the line of the fuel. The blow-by oil leak may be also caused by the stiff fuel line so that it can not route well above the carburetor inlet of the Sportster. The blow-by oil can ultimately deteriorate the vacuum hose. As it happens, you have to replace the hose which is close to the molded tubes inside diameter.
To replace it, you have route the hose sections through each of the blow-by tube. Then, simply pull it out from the air inlet opening. As those sections have been routed, connect the vacuum tee between them. Set the vacuum tea opening faces toward the inlet of the carburetor. Then, you can pull the vacuum hose from those sides until the tee properly settles inside the assembly of the air filter.
The last thing you should do is to cut the excess vacuum hose flush along with the molded tubes on the assembly of the air filter. The length of the blow-by bolts which attach to the head is ½ inch. Meanwhile, the molded tubes into which they fit are ¾ inch. Once the air filter assembly is reinstalled, the blow-by bolts push the vacuum hose to the molded tubes so that there will be ¼ inch of vacuum tube which is still in the molded tubes. You have to reroute the blow-by over the carburetor.

Oil Filter Housing Assembly??????
Does anyone know how to fix an oil filter housing on a 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?
I have the 3 little rings, but don't know how to take it apart to replace them.
Help!!
first your remove the oil filter, then get a wrench the apporiate size (3/4" or 19mm i think). remove the bolt and there you are.. there are two o-rings on the bolt and one on the adapter..BE sure to lubricate the new o-rings before installing them. Install new filter, change oil and circulate to check for leaks and you are off
