Why do CF hoods get dull?
Any plastic, over time will eventually haze up over years. This is not just true for CF parts but for OEM plastic parts. If you've ever seen any headlights from the 90's like the 92-95 Civic OEM headlights or the 93-98 Supras you'll see that they have a strong yellow hue. Anti UV gelcoat helps, and most of our CF parts have this, but there is no such thing as a CF Toyota MR2 SW20 parts that's 100% immune to UV rays. Park your car in a shaded area or better yet park in the garage.
How to make a dull carbon fiber hood shine again!
Usually you don't have to buy a new Seibon carbon fiber hood to get that shiny carbon fiber look. We recommend lightly wet sanding the hood with 1000 grade sand paper, spray with clear coat and polish. This process usually restores the look to new or better for very little cost!
Cleaning a Carbon Hood
Rinse the hood and mix water and car wash shampoo in a container. Wash the Toyota MR2 SW20 hood thoroughly to remove dirt and greasy residue. Dirt and grit on a hood can scratch the finish when you polish it--so make sure it is clean. Dry the hood well with a soft, lint-free towel.
Apply car polish to a foam applicator. If the hood has areas of anodizing or swirl marks--either of which can occur on Seibon carbon fiber hoods--apply polish to these areas first. Work on these areas longer than other parts of the hood. Rub the polish in with the foam applicator, using back and forth strokes.
Take extra caution when polishing a Toyota MR2 CF vented hood for instance. You don't want anything getting caught in the mesh or openings, there will be small areas that need detailed attention.
Apply polish, using the foam applicator, to the rest of the hood in sections (approximately 2 feet square at a time). Don't rush through this--taking time to rub the polish in does make a difference.
Use a clean microfiber polishing cloth to buff the entire hood. When finished, inspect the hood again for any problem areas--these may require a little more polish.
If the automobile is light it won't be stable at high speeds & even a small perturbation could potentially throw it off a safe trajectory. On the other hand a heavy Mitsubishi 3000GT will have a poor power to weight ratio & it will give a sluggish performance. Therefore a automobile has to strike the right balance. & there is products such as a carbon fiber Mazda speed wing for the Mazda RX-8 SE3P that improve the aerodynamics of the automobile & make it more stable at high speeds, as well as a carbon fiber body kit.
What one can do is selectively reduce the weight of the automobile so that you get benefits but do not compromise other aspects of the car's performance. A CF hood does that. It makes the automobile lighter by replacing the metal hood. Also carbon fiber hoods can have exquisite designs & look appealing. The fact that the weight is reduced at the front of the automobile is also important. That reduces the amount of weight being carried by the front wheel. Since they steer the automobile with the help of the front wheels lesser weight on the front wheels make the automobile simpler to steer.
Are you painting the hood? If so you might as well save some money and just get a fiberglass hood instead of a carbon hood, the weight savings between a fiberglass and CF is usually only five pounds so you might as well get a fiberglass one. "I like the way carbon fiber looks so I don't want to paint it." In this scenario you only choice is CF or carbon kevlar maybe texalium depending on the color of your car. If weight is your primary concern and price is last on your list then buy a dry carbon fiber hood.
As you can see a carbon fiber hood is the right choice because it is lighter than the stock hood. You can see the latest carbon fiber hoods at carbonfiberhoods.com
This is a great remedy for your hood, but it also works on trunks, fenders, and most other parts for the Nissan 350Z, Honda Civic, Acura Integra and more.

Skunk2 Press Release – Pro Series Manifolds For 06+ Civic Si Go Black!
Skunk2's Pro Series Intake Manifold for Honda's K-series has arrived, and now it's been coated in its signature Black Series finish. Skunk2 engineers looked to the popular '06+ Civic Si's RBC intake manifold for inspiration and went back to the drawing board. Skunk2's Pro Series Intake Manifold for Honda's K-series features a larger plenum and shorter, oversized runners when compared to the RBC, and is cast with thicker wall material, leaving room for further porting for high-horsepower applications. Instead of producing a manifold with a significantly oversized plenum and excessively short runners that would sacrifice mid-range power, the Pro Series manifold was designed for the "street enthusiast" who wants more power but doesn't want to sacrifice mid-range performance to get it. The results are improved airflow, an enhanced venturi effect, and both mid-range and top-end power gains.
Skunk2's all-new, cast-aluminum Pro Series Intake Manifold for Honda's K-series is a direct-fit replacement for '06+ Civic Si thanks to its unique, patent-pending water neck design and throttle body flange, which is compatible with OEM throttle bodies as well as those as large as 76mm. The special water neck design eliminates the cutting that would otherwise be involved with some RBC applications and the supplied thermal-insulated intake manifold gasket makes for a truly bolt-on installation (no drilling or modifying required). Pro Series manifolds also incorporate an angled-runner design, which allows for ample hood clearance on '88-'00 Civics and '90-'01 Integras with K-series engine swaps, as well as additional core support clearance on '02-'05 Civic Sis.
Pro Series Intake Manifolds offer horsepower and torque gains greater than the popular RBC manifold but without compromising mid-range power output. The design incorporates runners that are similar in length to the RBC's but with larger bores, a special tapered design, as well as a larger, tapered plenum that together preserve mid-range power but increase and accelerate airflow to allow for significant top-end power gains. Pro Series Intake Manifold runner exits are also machined and hand-finished to best match the cylinder head's ports. Skunk2's Pro Series Intake Manifold's shape and design also increases wave scavenging effects at the engine's ideal operating range, which allow for a broad increase in usable power.
Skunk2 is a familiar name in the intake manifold business, with more than 10 years of experience designing, testing, and building them. Similar to OEM manifolds, Skunk2's Pro Series Intake Manifolds are shell-molded and CNC-machined for superior strength, a precise fit, and a high-quality finish. Each manifold is molded with smooth transitions from the throttle body opening to the plenum to the runners with clean parting lines for an optimal finish, both inside and out.

Need help on a new build idea?
So i just sold my civic and all the parts i had on hand for it, so i have 7K to build a new car.
here are my ideas
1.) 97-01 impreza + JDM ej20t Sti swap
2.) 97-02 mitsu mirage 2 door+4g63T JDm evo motor+oem evo 5 bodyparts
3.) 97+ integra+b18c5 ITR swap
4.) Lude?
im looking for the most power and performance, just going through ideas, any of you guys got any? no domestics please
yeah because we all know that 18 year olds have the cash to burn on a brand new car or something like that
im leaning towards either of hte JDM swaps since therye both turboed and around 300 fly hp
definately do one with awd.
i love 4g63 motors but the impreza with an sti swap would be bad asss.
with 7k you could probably put an awd 1g dsm into a 10..
Thanks for visiting!
