Nitrous Purge Kits – The Mobile Light Show Does Use Smoke And Mirrors

You may have been fortunate enough to watch a street racer start his engine and suddenly a sharp hiss of steam emerges from under the hood. This is quickly followed by a blast of steam that turns into a vibrant and colorful nitrous cloud! The driver takes off down the street and suddenly like a rocket; is gone.

 

What you've just witnessed is the work of a high volume nitrous purge kit that is used to clear the in-line vapor which allows the nitrous oxide to optimize engine performance. In order to get the NOS feed to employ it boosts, drivers use a purge kit to clear unwanted vapor out of the system before activating the N2O booster.

 

Instead of wasting the effect, many purge kits now play it up for pure theatrics with the use of colored lights that play against the smoke.  These days, most packages include a complete nitrous purge kit plus a set of high intensity LED lights that are used to illuminate the nitrous purge cloud. They will usually come in red, green or blue and are powerful enough to light up a 15 foot nitrous cloud. Like I said, there's no mistaking a car equipped with nitrous oxide when you hear the hissing sound and see the light show.

 

Most purge kits will include a nitrous purge valve, a purge adapter, fittings, purge tubing, and a push button switch. If you want to achieve the highest level your engine is capable of, you're nitrous system has to get N2O directly into the injection point as quickly and as cleanly as possible.

 

That's why I recommend that you purchase a high flow solenoid for your purge kit. Most of the high-end packages will include one but just in case, be sure to have one available. There is nothing as impressive as the twin outlet purge kits performing on the streets.

 

The twin blasts of steam shooting into the air from either side of the vehicle adds fearsome strength to the display. This effect is created by 25 foot plastic tubes mounted to one solenoid. You can position the purge tubes anywhere along the vehicle to heighten the dramatic effect. As they used to say on my block "It ain't showing off if you've got the power to pull it off." Show them that you've got a nitrous.

Car is randomly spraying off freon shortly after turning A/C on...?

The car is a 2001 Ford Mustang V6 and it has been very well maintained, but is just out of warranty with 85,000 miles. Three seperate times now, shortly after starting the car up and then switching the A/C on it will spray off a high pressure cloud of what appears to be R-32...out of the hood on the passenger side near the windshield(imagine a drag car purging nitrous). I pulled over the first time after seeing it and looked under the hood. ln the engine bay there was just a little squirt of green (presumably radiator) fluid up near where the initial cloud came from. I know it was recent because I literally watched it drip down. Like I said, this has only happened three times and there is nothing noticeably wrong with the A/C or radiator....any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Freon isn't green and it doesn't drip. You'll need to find the source of your radiator coolant leak before you have a catastophic failure.
