Ok, another generalized topic of auto mechanics is replacing loose motor mounts. Now, there are generally only two reasons to replace a motor mount. 1) You are putting in a different engine that needs different motor mounts, or 2) You have cracked the old ones or they no longer snug up to the frame of the car or the engine block.
It is important to remember that motor mounts should never really have to be replaced unless they are broken. If they are loose, it would be better to just go in and tighten them.
In any case, let's go through a simple explanation of replacing your Motor Mounts. It will have to be general because with out knowing anything precise about the vehicle you are replacing them in; it is hard to give details.
Step One: Lifting the Engine
In order to get to the motor mounts and take them off to replace them, you will need to hoist the motor. This can be done with our without disconnecting the transmission or transaxle, but you will still need to go through the same process that you would to remove your engine.
During the process of removing the engine, you will need to take off the bolts that hold the motor mounts to the frame of the vehicle. Then, you can freely lift the motor to get access to the rest of the mount on the block of the engine.
Step Two: Remove the Motor Mounts
There should be 2 to 4 bolts holding the motor mount onto the block of the engine and you will need to pull them off. If you are changing the bracket that holds the motor mount on the frame of the vehicle, you will also need to remove that.
Step Three: Put on your new Motor Mounts
Replace the motor mounts on the block of the engine and the bracket onto the frame of the car if needed. Make sure your bolts are tightened as far as they can go without breaking them. This will keep you from having 'loose' motor mounts in the future.
Let your engine down a little on the hoist until the mounts fit squarely into the brackets on the frame of the vehicle. Once they are lined up, replace the bolts that hold them together while you still have the engine slightly hoisted. This will help make your job easier.
Step Four: Reconnect the Engine
You will need to reconnect any parts, hoses, lines or harnesses that you have removed to hoist the engine up. Make sure everything goes back in its correct place.
Step Five: Wiggle Room!
Get inside the engine compartment and push down on the engine vigorously. You are checking to make sure your engine is securely in place and that there is no longer any signs of a 'loose' motor mount.
Step Six: Test Drive
As you can see it is possible to do this safely without disconnecting the transmission or the transaxle. Take your vehicle for a test drive to make sure you have repaired the necessary parts and that it is functioning properly.

German Engineering, American Vehicle
General Motors has done much to revitalize its Saturn brand in the past eighteen months. The brand known in the past as the home of the haggle-free customer service is now the fastest growing brand in the United States auto market. General Motors has revitalized the brand by infusing the Saturn lineup with German engineering.
With the help of Opel, General Motors has turned Saturn vehicles into the most European-ized American cars in the market. The recently named the 2007 North American Car of the Year, the Saturn Aura has close ties with the Opel Vectra. The Saturn Astra that will be released in the North American market later this year is a rebadged Opel Astra. Another result of the collaboration between Opel and Saturn is the convertible Saturn Sky which is based on the Opel GT.
Another Saturn vehicle with European lineage is the midsize crossover SUV Saturn Vue. The vehicle was designed based on the Opel Antara which is based on the General Motors Theta platform. The Antara and the Vue are designed to be indistinguishable from each other. Both are designed and developed in Germany using the country’s engineering.
The similarity between the European Antara and the American Vue is apparent in its handling. The suspension setting of the Antara mirrors that of the Vue. Both crossover SUVs are equipped with strut-front and multilink-rear suspension settings. According to the manufacturer of the Vue, it will have the same handling and stability as its European sibling.
With German engineering behind the new Vue, handling is improved compared to its predecessor. With more responsive handling, the Vue is considered as a near luxury vehicle. In the past, several Saturn auto models have failed to give the brand an upscale feel. But with the partnership with Opel, Saturn vehicles have become a serious competitor in its segment.
The General Motors Theta platform was revised to give the new Vue its sharper handling and better ride comfort. Vibrations and noise from the engine bay are also reduced, thanks to the specially designed Saturn engine mount which absorbs most of the engine’s vibrations.
The revisions to the automobile platform with the use of German engineering have resulted to an increase in weight. More than 400 pounds were added to the new Vue compared to its predecessor. This increase in weight is a surprise considering that the new Vue has virtually the same dimensions as the old Vue.
The 2008 Saturn Vue will be equipped with a standard 2.4-liter Ecotec engine with the variable valve timing. This engine can produce as much as 169 horsepower. An optional engine for the new Vue includes a 3.5-liter V6 with an output of 222 horsepower. Another engine choice available for the Vue is a 3.6-liter direct overhead camshaft V6 engine with an output of 257 horsepower.
The new Saturn Vue will be competing in the North American auto market directly with the Ford Escape, the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4. In order to compete with these already established nameplates, the Saturn Vue has been given European styling which is aimed to attract young vehicle buyers. The changes made in the exterior of the Saturn Vue gives it a sportier look unlike its predecessor. With the help of Opel, it seems that the Saturn Vue will become a major competition for the Asian brands in its segment.

What would the price range for changing motor mounts on a scion tc 2007?
I drive a Scion tc 2007 and my car shakes a lot more while stopped. I believe it is the engine motor mounts needing changing. How would I go about this and around what price range?
I would have a Toyota tech look at it. I work at Toyota and have never needed to replace motor mounts.
