The Sentry D880 is a great safe for anyone looking for a security safe with a luxurious looks.  Many safes on the market look like steel boxes and are a bit of an eyesore.  The Sentry D880 shines above the rest in this category with it’s clean black finish and gold accessories.  Measuring just over 2 feet high and offering 4.35 cubic feet of storage space, most people would consider this office safe a small size safe; however, it still works great as a nice way to protect and store documents, valuables, passports, or even a small firearm.  The D880 opens via a combination lock with a strong feel to the lock. 

Construction

Straight out of the packaging, the Sentry D880 feels solid.  It weighs just under 200 lbs. which can make it a bit difficult to move, but this is a great quality for anyone looking for a home or office safe as the added weight serves as a deterrence to theft.  The door is constructed with a hardened steel plate door which can help protect the safe from a drill attack, and it offers hinges that are concealed to help prevent tampering with or unwanted entry into the safe.

The Sentry D880 comes opens via a traditional combination lock.  The lock is a UL listed combination lock as an added benefit.  The safe’s hinges are concealed to prevent someone tampering with the door.  Once the door is closed and the lever is turned, the D880 secures itself with 3 live-locking bolts.

Many of the smaller safes we review are made of low quality materials from countries you've probably never heard of; however, the Sentry D880 offers solid construction and elegant looks at a very reasonable price. At prices around $500, what’s not to love? The combination lock of the Sentry D880 operates very smoothly and you can feel the quality with a quick rotation of the dial.
