When it comes to your car, you don't want to mess around! Make sure you get what you need done when it needs to be done. Between getting regular oil changes, tune ups, and just taking care of your car in general, it's important if you want your vehicle to be around for a while.

One thing you can't skip out on is getting your car's brake fluid changed. Don't want to take it into the shop to get it done? Not a problem, just make sure you follow these steps to get the job done.

• Startby parking your car, turning it off and popping the hood.
• Next, find the brake master cylinder. It's usually found on the driver's side of the car next to the engine.
• Take off the cap and look at the color of the fluid. It should be similar to the color of apple juice. If it's not be sure to change it.
• Take your vacuum pump and suction out the old fluid, making sure the tube gets all the way to the bottom.
• Once it's emptied out, get a rag and wipe away any dirt so that the fluid is as clean as possible.
• Now poor your clean fluid in until it reaches the full line.
• You will need to take all the wheels off of your car and get out vacuum pump again. By each tire there is a bleeder valve. You will want to take off the cap and suction your vacuum pump to it.
• Now get a wrench and loosen the bleeder valve.
• Pump your vacuum pump until all the old brake fluid comes out, this is usually 25 pumps worth.
• Now go back to your brake master cylinder and add my fluid.
• Repeat this for the other three tires.
• Once you've finished doing all 4 tires, get ready to test drive. You may notice that your pedal will go all the way down to the floor and the ABS light may come on. When this happens, you will want to pump the brake about 10-15 times so it will firm up. The ABS light should go off after you turn it off and back on again. If it doesn't turn off the first time you will want to unhook your battery (the negative terminal) so that the computer will reset.

As you can see, there are quite a few steps to doing this properly. Take your time, get all the bad oil out, and feel good about saving a few bucks by doing it yourself!

As the name might suggest, a flexible fuel vehicle is one whose engine is powered by means other than the commonly used petroleum-based fuels - petrol and diesel. Typically relying on a combination of one of the above fuels and an alternative method of powering, the flexible - or "alternative" - fuel vehicle is gaining in popularity as a concept due to its potential to help reduce the impact on the environment from the automotive industry.

Though still in the early stages as far as honing the technology is concerned, alternative fuelling methods are inevitably going to continue playing a major part in the debates and discussions that will only increase as the human race looks for a way to go into the future in a cleaner, greener way. Most specifically, the concept of "hybrid" vehicles is one that is leading the way as far as alternative fuelling methods are concerned. Hybrid cars still rely on an internal combustion engine to get started, but benefit from electric power once on the move. Flex-fuel vehicles differ from hybrids in that they use more than one kind of fuel, rather than using electric power. Flexible fuel has not, yet, gained the same level of popularity as hybrid technology worldwide, but has been a notable success in Brazil, where President Luis Ignacio "Lula" da Silva has touted the benefits of cleaner energy. "Flex" vehicles, as they are known in Brazil, are recognizable by the word "Flex" on the bodywork and their yellow fuel caps that bear the legend "E85". This is a reference to the fuel balance that drives the engine - a combination that features 85% ethanol and 15% petrol.

The US currently has the largest number of flex fuel vehicles, with a total of 6.8 million on the roads. However, many drivers do not realize their car is a flex-fuel vehicle due to a lack of consumer awareness and an equal lack of government promotion of the technology. Stations selling the combined fuel are also few and far between, giving the overall impression of an industry paying lip service to the technology without thinking about its implementation.

Given that flex, vehicles can run on 100% gasoline, the fact that they can be sold in America without the buyer knowing that they are flex-fuel means that many such vehicles are run as gas cars. This is in marked contrast to the E85 awareness in Brazil where it is now impossible to buy pure gasoline. The technology is easier to implement in a warmer climate, as ethanol's alcohol content is prone to cold starting problems. Given, however, that the cars can run on different combinations, it is not impossible to see a time when flex-fuel vehicles are popular worldwide.

98 honda civic ex is jerks usually in lower gear whats wrong?

My honda civic has been running rough and jerking, I've taken it in to many shops and they couldn't find the problem. I've replaced the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, air filter, and tps sensor. usually in the lower gear it will seem to jerk forward as if it needs to shift but doesn't, the shops did diagnostics on it but still couldn't find the problem. Does anyone have any other idea's on what could be wrong with this car?

Have you checked the belt? Also, the water pump? My water pump was going, and it would sometimes seize, which caused the drive belt to stick. That could also cause something like the jerking you are experiencing. Sometimes it also wouldn't turn over. In my case I didn't realize what was going on, and the belt broke. I had to have the engine rebuilt.

Another thought is the transmission. Perhaps you have a tooth missing on one of the gears, or there is debris in your tranny.
