Engine oil leaks ?

How far above the maximum mark on a Ford Focus dipstick would you have to go in order to cause oil leaks in the engine. If there were leaks, is it possible for the oil to contaminate the timing belt etc ?

to much oil is just as bad as to little , why do you want to know "how far you can go before it leaks", drain some out using the sump plug before you drive it any further
