People who sustain these injuries can have chronic difficulty and pain for many years following the car accident. The injury can result in permanent impairment and the inability to move the foot up and down, swelling,difficulty walking on uneven surfaces and limping. Post traumatic arthritis is also a major issue with calcaneus fractures.

The degree of the fracture is determined by the number of pieces the calcaneus bone is broken in to and the resulting displacement of the bones. There are five main types of fractures.

- A stable fracture is where the bone is broken in to pieces that are not displaced and can heal cleanly without surgical intervention.

- A displaced fracture is where the bones do not line up correctly and must be realigned to heal properly.

- An open fracture is where the bone breaks through the skin.

- A closed fracture is where the bones are broken but do not puncture the skin.

- A comminuted fracture is where the bones are broken into multiple fragments. This is generally the most unstable type of fracture and often requires surgical intervention.

VW Polo57 Reg - how do I unlock the stereo to enable rear speaker fade?

Hi, I have a VW Polo 1.4 57 reg. On the factory fitted stereo there is a B/F button but only the balance between the front speakers work - there is no fade. I want to fit rear speakers which will be useless without a fade option. When I looked in the manual it said to take the car to a VW dealership to have a code put in so the fade works. However, when I took it to the main dealer they told me that it was impossible to do and I would have to buy a whole new stereo system...for £800!!! Ideally I would rather not change the stereo, partly as it's a company car and I don't want to muck around too much with it and partly because the current stereo is an MP3 CD player, brilliant as I have to do a lot of driving.
If anyone knows whether it is possible to get a fade function or even what the code is to do it that would be great, it would save me a small fortune! Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that when you connect rear speakers, the stereo will detect this & the fader will work. I've had Ford units that do this.
