All through the seventies, bike manufacturers, particularly the Japanese giants had been competing to produce the most powerful and fastest bikes of the time. 1983 had seen the launch of Honda's VF750F with its revolutionary 90 degree V4 engine sitting in a package that gave unprecedented power and handling for a Japanese bike, and whose roots have extended right up to the present day.
In 1981, Kawasaki's GPz1100 put the company right back at the front of the superbike class, and then in 1984 it delivered an almost knockout blow to the competition in the form of the GPz900R. The fact that the GPz900R stayed in production for 15 years, and remained at or near the top of the superbike tree for all that time, is testament to significance of this machine.
Introduced at Leguna Seca in December 1983, "Pee Wee" Gleason covered the standing quarter in less than 11 seconds and took the bike to over 150mph, and handled so well that it dominated the Production TT in bog standard format. With fully enclosed bodywork was sensational in looks and design, and although there was very little revolutionary in terms of parts, it was the first bike to have a liquid cooled, dohc, 16 valve transverse power unit.
The frame was just a tubular steel spine, but without the usual down tubes which saved weight and allowed the use of a completely redesigned box section sub frame made from aluminium. The whole point of the GPz1100R was to create an incredibly powerful bike that also handled like a smaller machine and in this it excelled. With anti dive front shocks and monoshock rear suspension, superb brakes and an aerodynamic package resulting in its classic good looks, the GPz is in many ways the bike that most superbikes have been fashioned since.
It is testament to the bike that it remained in production longer than two of its replacement models, the GPZ1000RX and the ZX-10, although towards the end of its life it had lost the hard core superbike image and was regarded as a capable sports-tourer.

The Audi A5
Audi—major subsidiary of Volkswagen and user of quality VW steering rack -- has been planning to build a coupe that can surpass its TT and finally it’s going to happen this fall once the 2008 Audi A5 arrives in the US dealerships. Measuring 182 inches from nose to tail, the A5 is approximately 18 inches longer than the redesigned TT coupe and 7 inches shorter than the BMW 6 Series but is almost of exact length as the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz CLK coupes which are among its closest rivals.
The A5 looks a bit like the Nuvolari concept which has the scaled down version of the A8’s aluminum space frame but Audi assures that the production car has an all-new chassis design that will underpin several future models.
Comparing the A5 to other Audis, its front axle is pushed farther forward which makes it easier for this car to meet European pedestrian safety standards. Such setup also allows engineers to mount the coupe’s north-south engine over the front-axle center line to provide better weight distribution.
The A5 will be powered by a 3.2 liter FSI V6. European-spec A5s will also get a budget four-cylinder and a pair of diesel sixes. The 3.2 liter V6 is equipped with a variable valve lift that produces 262 horsepower and 243 pond-feet of torque. Both a six-speed manual and a CVT will be made available as well as a front-wheel-drive and Quattro all-wheel-drive configurations. The A5 equipped with Quattro and the manual gearbox will enable this coupe to reach 60 in about 6 seconds according to Audi.
The suspension bits equipped on the A5 are mostly aluminum and comprised of an all-new five-link design in front that locates its upper and lower wishbones on a subframe bolted to the body for greater firmness while a trapezoidal-link arrangement was made for the back. The latter design is already employed for other Audi models but for the A5 the company revised the geometry.
Engineers have also positioned the steering box forward of the front axle, which enhances direct feel according to Audi. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard on the A5 while the eighteen’s are to be made available through an S-line sport package.
The interior of the A5 is a combination of the sleek designing styles of A4 and A6 and the Multi Media Interface (MMI) all-in-one control system is standard. Audi will also offer multiple grades and hues of cloth and leather upholstery, and will allow customers to mix them with different wood and metal inlays according to their preference. Other factory options available for the A5 include a panoramic glass roof, keyless startup, triple-zone climate control, a rearview camera and a 14 speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Remove a 2003 Saturn Vue transmission.?
I have a 2003 saturn vue with a manual transmission that I'm trying to remove, but I can't get the transmission to drop.
Everything is loose, all mounts are unbolted, and the engine is dropped as much as possible without ripping out any hoses. (The A/C hose is already tight.) But the transmission is still sitting on the subframe.
My goal is to remove the slave cylinder, which started leaking. The only thing I need to do is remove the transmission.
In your experience, how is the best way to do it? (This is my mother-in-law's christmas present.)
First of all the engine needs to be supported up and the trans drops down. second you need to remove the engine cradle wich involes you to remove cradle/steering gear/ect. also the front air dam deflector from the body wich is attached to the cradle. Sounds like Fun!
