Oil pump for lawn mower?

Can I use this hand oil pump to help me change the oil in my lawnmower. I cant get the oil plug open so I was thinking of using this to remove the old oil.

The pump can pump the oil, BUT...

From the photo, it looks like the suction hose is larger than the oil fill opening which will be your only access if you cannot remove the drain plug. If you can find another piece of hose which will tightly fit into the larger pump hose, yet is small enough to fit the fill opening, then it should work.

But note that the hose fit has to be airtight, or all you'll do is suck air, not oil.

Another suggestion [which I have used myself] can be messy, but it works.

IF you can get a helper [or two!], the process will go cleaner and easier.

Get a large pan, or an aluminum one-time-use turkey roaster pan, set it on the ground next to the fill plug side of the mower.

Remove the fill plug, or cap. With the help of a friend, pick up the mower, and carefully turn it over [towards the fill hole side and over the drain pan].

Hold the mower so that the oil drains into the pan. When most of the oil flow has stopped, or y'all's arms wear out, place and hold an old rag over the opening [a 2nd helper, 3rd person makes this even easier and better] to stop the drip, and turn the mower back upright and set it on the ground.

When I did it, I didn't have any help, the mower was too bulky and heavy, and much of the oil missed the pan. But with enough manpower, it can be done.
