Have you ever wanted to become an art instructor? Would you like to teach others a simple but effective method of oil painting? If so, Alexander Art my have the answer you've been looking for.
Back in the 1970's, a wonderful artist by the name of William "Bill" Alexander introduced the world to his simple, effective and wonderful method of oil painting known as wet on wet. During Bill's television shows he would guide the viewer through the process of completing an oil painting in just 30 minutes. Bill's show gained enormous popularity and he went on to become the only television artist to win an Emmy for his work.
Although Bill was teaching others his method of oil painting on television, so much interest grew in his method that it became necessary to certify instructors to meet the demands of students. The ACI (Alexander Certified Instructor) program still exists today, and now is a great time to join Alexander Art as a certified instructor.
You're probably wondering why you should become an Alexander Certified Instructor. Here are 5 reasons to become certified:
1. Certification provides the necessary credentials that many students and hosting venues are looking for.
2. Own your own business. Teaching others to paint can be profitable AND fun. Some instructors put on weekly classes to gain steady revenue. What could be better than earning money doing something you love?
3. Receive a 50% discount on Alexander Art painting supplies. Let me say that again. 50% discount. This includes brushes, oil paints, instructional materials and other accessories. This discount only applies to Alexander Certified Instructors.
4. Affiliation with a respected company. The Alexander name has been around for over 30 years. With certification they even allow the use of their logo to advertise yourself as an Alexander Certified Instructor.
5. The tuition fee for certification covers more than just record keeping costs. You'll receive a large painting kit, instructional videos and an instructors manual. You get almost everything that you need to complete the course.
Enrolling in the certification course is simple. Just contact Alexander Art and let them know you are interested. You can visit their website for all the necessary contact information. Once you are enrolled, you will have 6 months to complete the course.
There are several tasks that you will need to complete in order to become certified. You'll need to develop 2 projects along with detailed notes that would be useful when teaching a class. Photos of these 2 projects and the notes will need to be submitted to Alexander Art for review. Also, you'll need to teach 2 classes to students. Photos detailing your students progress will be required. Finally, there is a written exam that must be completed and submitted. This is where the videos and the instructors manual will come in handy.
All in all, the certification program can be realistically completed in a short time given the proper preparation and time devoted to completing the work. So if you have been considering becoming an art instructor, the Alexander Certified Instructor program may be just what you have been looking for.

Oil Spills On Water - Make Oil Absorbents Part Of Your Spill Response Plan
Oil spills can be very dangerous, especially if they happen on water where they have the potential to spread more quickly and cause irreversible damage to the environment. If you are working with oils on a daily basis it is important to have the correct spill kits and absorbents to be able to deal with any potential spillages. Your spill response plan should incorporate different types of oil absorbents to contain and absorb dangerous oils spills whether on land or water.
Oil Spills on land & water.
Oil spillage kits and absorbents soak up and retain oils and oil-based liquids without absorbing a drop of water. If you have a spill on water, the oil will not mix with the water, it will simply float on the surface. Whilst damage to the environment is unavoidable, using oil only absorbents on the water surface means that the oil spill can be contained and removed much quicker and easier to minimise the overall environmental impact. The spill can be effectively contained and removed with oil-only absorbents such as socks, booms, mats and pillows which will absorb the oil but not any water and prevent the spill from becoming a disaster.
If you are working with oils in an outdoor oil storage area, you should also use oil-only absorbents if any spills occur due to the potential for wet and rainy weather conditions whilst working outdoors.
Containing spills that come from oil
To prevent an oil spill from causing damage to the environment and becoming a slip and fall hazard to employees the first step is containment. Socks and Booms that only absorb oil can be used to do this effectively as they are flexible and mouldable enough to surround any type of spill and absorb as well as contain oil spills. Multiple socks and booms can be overlapped or linked together to encircle larger oil spills using sturdy clips and connecting rings which feature on some socks and booms on the market. Oil-only socks and booms are easily identifiable in a spill response situation as they are typically white in colour to make absorbed oil easier to see, although some booms are also available in dark grey to hide the absorbed oil and blend in with the surroundings. Containing and absorbing oil spills becomes quick and easy when absorbent socks and booms are part of your spill response plan.
Cleaning up
Once an oil spill has been contained it then needs to be cleaned up. This stage in your spill response plan should also include oil-only absorbents because although absorbent socks and booms absorb as well as contain other absorbents may be needed to clean up any excess oil. Absorbent mats and pillows that are water repellent are designed for this type of outdoor spill application. Both mats and pillows float on water so they are easy to retrieve when the oil has been completely absorbed and are white in colour which makes it easier for you to monitor saturation. Mats and pillows that repel water should be used in conjunction with each other to achieve complete clean up of oil spills so that damage to the environment, stock and employees is prevented.

I've over cleaned my face with acne medications! Now what?
I have been breaking out badly because I have not been washing my face properly after roller derby practice. Well I bought the Neutrogena oil free acne wash in the pink grapefruit, I used that in the afternoon and night for about 4 days then I bought the Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System. I stopped using the one and now I'm using the kit. My face turned red, and it has a tight feeling to it and burns a little. I think I should have waited a few days between using the two. The kit says to use 2 times a day but I'm using 1 time.
Other than that all the pimples went away!
Any suggestions in the meantime? Has this happened to you? How should I use the product for now? Every other day? What should I use that isn't so strong after practice?
You dried out and irritated your face. Let your skin calm down, and try putting a moisturizer on it later next week. You should use those products once every two days, but you're going to over wash your face. The kits will say anything, but your skin won't always agree. Maybe even change the brand. They make pills called minocycline for acne so you don't have to wash your face everyday. I highly reccomend Differin, talk to your doctor about it.
