Every 28.8 seconds, a motor vehicle is stolen in the United States. Although the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) claims that auto thefts have declined for the fifth consecutive year, statistics paint a frightening picture.
In 2007 alone, the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports said that 1,095,769 vehicles were reported stolen with a majority of the thefts (36.8 percent) occurring in the western states. This was followed by the South at 34.6 percent, the Midwest at 18.5 percent, and the Northeast at 10.2 percent. Estimating the value of vehicles stolen based on 2007 FBI data, 1.09 vehicles at $6,755 per vehicle amount to roughly $7.4 Billion in property losses.
Majority of the thefts were carjacking which is common in urban areas and accounts for 3 percent of all motor vehicle thefts nationwide. The NICB identified the Top 10 auto theft cities as Modesto, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; San Diego/Carls-bad/San Marcos, California; Stockton, California; San Francisco/Oakland/Freemont, California; Laredo, Texas; Alburquerque, New Mexico; Phoenix/Mesa/Scottsdale, Arizona; Yakima, Washington; and Tuscon, Arizona. The Top 10 states for auto theft were California, Texas, Florida, Arizona, Michigan, Washington, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, and New York.
Not surprisingly, those vehicles stolen tend to follow the demographic patterns of certain cities and regions. In Chicago and Detroit, American vehicles are hoisted. In the southwest, pickup trucks top the list. Over in Los Angeles, Toyotas, Nissans and other Asian models are in demand.
If you're wondering what the most commonly stolen vehicles are, here's a rundown from the NICB: 1995 Honda Civic, 1991 Honda Accord, 1989 Toyota Camry, 1997 Ford F150 Serues, 2005 Dodge Ram P/UP, 1994 Chevy 1500 P/UP, 1994 Nissan Sentra, 1994 Dodge Caravan, 1994 Saturn SL, and 1990 Acura Integra. These statistics clearly show that anyone can be a target of auto theft.
The NICB says that the 1995 Honda Civic was the most stolen vehicle in 2004. Motor vehicle thieves continue to target imports over domestic brands. Many vehicles on the top ten list shown below are 10 to 17 model years old. These cars have been consistent top sellers for many years and some of their parts are interchangeable. Thieves dismantle them for their components, according to Auto-Theft.Info.
In many instances, car theft occurs because a lot of people make it convenient for thieves to steal their cars. An NICB survey found that a third of motorists leave their cars with the engine running to get something from the house or the office. Forty-seven percent park in dim areas while 40 percent leave their valuables in the car. These include mail, bank statements or a wallet which makes them easy targets for identity theft.
National Insurance Crime Bureau President, Robert Bryant suggests that vehicle owners use several layers of security when protecting their cars. This would include steering wheel locks, alarms and/or a tracking device like LoJack.
If you want to shield yourself from costly repairs and protect your vehicle from all sorts of trouble, now is the best time to get an extended warranty. There are several plans to choose from depending on the type of vehicle you own and your budget.

Legend Of Honda Type-R
The H logo on the red background with white paint, newly modified engine and red Recaro seats" A short phrase to define the type-R version from Honda. Type-R stands for Type Racing which was develop to satisfy the need for speed lovers. It was started in Japan at the beginning of the year 1990.
However, the project wasn't start as a type-R project so you can't actually call it a type-R. It started from the Civic SiR product line with the vehicle body code EF9 in the year 1991 and later EG6 and EG9 SiR in the year 1992. This version of Honda Civic is the first version came with a B16A engine, sporty interior and a fully modified suspension for the additional horsepower.
Later in the year 1992, the first type-R product line was released to the market. It is the special edition Honda NSX type-R. Honda produced the NSX-R in a limited amount and the car weight was reduced from 1,350 kilograms to 1,230 kilograms.
The type-R was well known for being a modified version for the Honda Civic EK body and the Honda Integra, a sport from the same fundamental during 1,998,000-2,500,000 Yen or only about 670,000-825,000 THB while the NSX reach 10 million yen or about 3 million baht, an affordable price for middle class people who are addicted to speed.
The Civic type-R under body code EK9 comes with a B16B engine which was modified for additional horsepower, the 1.6 liters engine with the total amount of 185 horsepower. It is a well recognized engine without the air compression system or known as NA for being one of the best engines that can produce the most horsepower per 1 liter engine. While the DC2 Integra with a B18C-R engine, 1.8 liters and 200 horsepower with a 5 speed manual transmission.
5 years later, the code EK9 and DC2 sill recognize by the Honda Civic and Integra fans but the Honda motor company doesn't stop so they came out with the new EP3 Civic and DC5 Integra with the newly change engine from the B family engine to the K20A, 2.0 liters i-VTEC which can yield approximately about 200 to 220 horsepower.
The Honda NSX-R role was decrease and they came out with NSX type-S Zero instead in the year 1997. The NSX-R came back again in the year 2000.
Why the type-R logo must come with the H logo on red background? It is because the first Honda formula-one car that won the grand prix in the year 1960 was painted in championship white and the H logo on red background. Their intention is to keep the sensation of the race from the track to the present Honda cars. In the present there are only the type-R version, all race car and formula one cars that are currently using this logo.

is an acura integra better than a honda civic?
i am looking for my first car i want somehting that has a little bit of power and has good maintnance
look for your first car. dont worry about swapping engines, about torque and modifications. get a car thats gets u around til u learn more about what your driving. for that the inetgra is better. even thought its "almost" the same engine wise atleast. integra is the higher end of the civic.a lil more luxury.
my first car was an 87 integra then a 94 then now i have a 95 and a 96. get the picture out of all three only the 87 was junked due to bent valves and the car wasnt worth the money for the repair. other than that ive had no problem. theyll low maintnace aslong as u dont wait to the last minute 2 get it wwhat it need (wit quality 2).
