Class leading Ford Fiesta is now available stateside.
The subcompact Ford Fiesta is a global car, sold by the Ford Motor Company in markets all around the world. During summer 2010, Ford made the car available to North American drivers, utilizing a Mexican factory to build its B segment model.
Available in four-door hatchback or four-door sedan, the Ford Fiesta has effectively raised the bar for the subcompact segment by offering a car that is better equipped and offering best-in-class fuel economy. Indeed, the Ford Fiesta SFE, equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission gets 29 mpg city, 40 mpg highway.
Important Features
Ford says that the Fiesta includes 15 class-exclusive features, appointments which add a level of convenience, even luxury, not found in a car of this class. Those features include a six-speed automatic transmission, ambient lighting package, seven standard airbags, optional leather seating surfaces, push button start, perimeter alarm and other touches. Chief competitors including the Nissan Versa, Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris are lacking in these departments.
The 2011 Ford Fiesta's1.6-liter engine features Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) providing effective throttle response, performance and flexibility. Elasticity found in the new drive belt design does away with a belt tensioner and is an important contributor in fuel economy.
Fiesta Transmissions
The standard five-speed manual transmission features gear ratios chosen to provide robust off-the-line performance and extraordinary fuel economy for the driver wanting to maximize his driving experience. The six-speed automatic transmission in no slouch in that compartment either, providing ample power though no optional paddle shifters. Expect the latter to show up in the future as customer demand warrants it.
Ford SYNC, first introduced to the 2008 Ford Focus compact, is available and improved too. SYNC incorporates a driver's mobile phone with the car's onboard, voice-activated communications and entertainment system. This technology, when available, is usually found on more luxurious models.
The 2011 Ford Fiesta also features keyless entry, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and adjustable cup holders to accommodate large and small containers alike.
Smartly Priced
Base models offer a sticker price just below $14,000 which is competitive to what other cars in this class start at. But, the Ford Fiesta is better equipped, offering features which are optional or unavailable from Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai and Kia. Advantage Ford in price, packaging and style, attributes that will not be lost on customers shopping for a subcompact car.

Guide to Installing a Big Block Chevy Manifold
The term ‘big block' is related with automobile engines. It is actually a series of engines that were of large displacement and were developed several years ago. A proper manifold should be installed on a vehicle to make sure that the engine runs efficiently. It is not too hard to install a manifold on a big block. Here is a simple guide.
Tools Needed
- Basic tools like ratchet, wrench and torque.
- Protective gear like safety clothing
Materials Needed
- Silicone sealant
- Non-hardening sealant
- Oil
- Rags
Guidelines
Step 1:
Every gasket has to be inspected and it must be made sure that they are sealed in a proper way. If bolts require sealing, then it is better to seal them quickly. The gasket and the water ports have to be given particular attention.
If the decks of blocks or heads were machined, then they may appear to be lower. If cork or rubber gaskets are present in the intake, then the block would not get firmly fixed to the manifold. To make an air tight connection, it is suitable to use silicone.
Step 2:
Now, the manifold has to be installed. Ensure that everything is right with the oil splash guard. When satisfied, lower the manifold into place. Ensure that adequate help is available to line up the manifold bolt holes. Some adjustments have to be done for lining up the holes.
Step 3:
The possible leaks should be sealed now. It is essential to understand that a lot of bolts ultimately end up close to the head area. There will be a lot of oil present. To prevent leaks, it is ideal to use non-hardening sealant on the bolts.
Step 4:
Once the bolts on the manifold and block have been tightened, it is essential to understand the tightening and loosening sequences which are needed. Some can vary but the loosening and tightening sequence of many blocks and manifolds start from the middle and go outwards.
Step 5:
It is important to ensure that each bolt is tightened to the same rating with torque wrench. However every bolt may not be accessed with a torque wrench. In case this happens, then use a box wrench.
Step 6:
This task requires working with larger vehicle and steel parts, it generally means that it is important to follow safety precautions. Anyone who is helping in this task must also be aware of the safety measures while installing the manifold.
Tips & Precautions
- Safety should be your topmost priority at all times. When lowering the manifold to its position, specific precautions must be followed. Caution must also be exercised when silicone is being used as a sealant.
- This is the process to do the task in a DIY style, it is helpful to save a pretty fine amount of money.

running after i turn it off.....?
same guy with 75 c-20 350 chevy....
it was suggested to use better fuel.....
so what gas should i use? And i would have used the term dieseling but didnt know if that was a correct term or not.
Truck runs great ecept when i turn it off. Only does it once in a while.
will i need a regulaur timing light or adjustable?
and does anyone know the timing for tdc?
I dont have an rpm gauge so how will i know the rpms it sopposed to be at?
thanks guys
Paul thanks for the advice that sounds good i am gonna try it now. The idle is kinda high sounding, so i will try pouring this fluid in slowly and see what happens.
And another note i was told the silonoid in front of the throttle linkage is also sopposed to open and close? Mine doesnt move....
Just turn off the truck while it's still in gear and then shift to park as a temporary solution---probably have the idle set too high or the anti-dieseling solenoid on the carb is adjusted wrong or missing/inop. You should also try doing a combustion chamber cleaning--parts store have chemicals to use for this purpose or just pour -at a trickle- windshield washer solution down the carb while running at fast idle---1500 rpm's--- Washer solution---the regular blue stuff--- is mostly water and alchohol which will clean the carbon deposits out of the combustion chambers---just use about a quart or so and don't let the engine kill while doing it, will probably smoke a lot of white smoke for several minutes afterwards. Too much carbon deposits in the combustion chamber and idle set too high allows fuel mixture to still enter the combustion chamber and carbon deposits will stay hot, like glow plugs, to ignite the fuel---both conditions will cause run-on like what you've got. Timing may not be off if it's running ok otherwise but it might be good to check it to see if it's set to specs.
