Rally racing in the 1960s and 1970s was very popular and still is today. This type of racing is one of the most challenging and demanding form of motor sports in the world. It involves sports cars going real fast, battling the elements and other race cars. Combine the physical action of road racing with the glamour and excitement of international sports car racing and you have Rally racing. Because Rally race cars are also street legal they had a special appeal to race fans. Race Fans wanted their cars to look and perform just like Rally cars. So some auto manufacturers offered accessories such as Rally wheels to the consumer. The original Rally steel wheels usually had five distinct oval slots and came with different center caps and trim rings. They were made of heavier gauge steel, which makes them weigh more but also adds structural integrity.

American Racing makes a chrome wheel that sure looks like the old style Rally wheels used on the Camaro and Chevelle. These triple chrome plated steel alloy wheels come with a baby moon hub cap and will compliment white wall tires. This top of the line chrome wheels are offered in 14, 15 and 16 inch rims. Widths vary from 6 to 10 inches. You can also choose many different offsets, back spacing and bolt circle patterns for that just right fitment.

General Motors has over the years given us some really great looking Camaro's and Chevelle's, and now we can add equally great classic custom Rally wheels from American Racing for that old school look.

Steve Farber is an author and web site publisher on custom wheels including American Racing Rally Chrome Wheels. Read articles and reviews on the top 60 custom wheel manufactures in the market today at http://www.custom-wheels-n-rims.com and http://www.just-spinner-rims.com

First Generation Camaro Sheet Metal Assembly Procedures

In this article I'll discuss the correct way to re-assemble the front sheet metal on a first generation camaro, we'll begin with the grille of the camaro, there are a few steps to each part of the assembly, and you need to follow each of them to do this correctly.

Grille Cube Sub-Assembly:

1.Rivet center grille to upper grille, and lower grille.
2.Rivet valence panel to lower grille.
3.Nest grille assembly in fixture, and attach the grille to the header panel with screws.
4.Attach parking lamps to grille, or valence depending on the year of the car.
5.Attach hood lock support to the grille, and then to the header panel, and also the valence panel.
6.Attach catch assembly to the hood lock catch support, and to the grille, and header panel.

Radiator Support:

1.Attach radiator, shroud, and all electrical components.
2.Fenders will also bolt to the top of the radiator support, fender skirts, bumper brackets, and fender extensions.
3.Head lamp housing sub-assemblies, and then head lamps, and retainer rings.
4.Hood and all related components.

Final Sheet Metal Assembly:

1.Loosely attach the radiator support to the frame.
2.Loosely attach the fenders to the radiator support and the cowl.
3.Introduce grille cube and pin catch assembly to support and drive bolts.
4.Drop in squaring fixture to establish body and frame sheet metal locations.
5.Drive the valence panel in to the fender, and fender extension blots.
6.Drive header panel between fenders, and tighten the bolts.
7.Adjust the front end to door gaps, and hood to fender, and header panel gaps.
8.Remove the squaring fixture.
9.Drive the remaining front end attachment.
10.Install radiator support to fame mounts, and tighten them down.
11.Install head lamp assemblies, and drive the bolts in to the fenders, the drive the bolts through the radiator support.
12.Drop the hood, and make sure that all the gaps are correctly set, and then tighten the hinges.
13.Adjust the hood striker, and the hood bumpers to obtain a correct form and fit.
14.Adjust the cowl vent and grille to provide uniform gaps at the rear of the hood, and then tighten it all down.
15.Aim the head lamps, and attach the bezels.

After you have completed this procedure your first generation camaro front end should bee together, and looking pretty good, of course this is not the only way ever created to assemble the front sheet metal on the first generation camaro, but I know the this works the right way.

I hope that this will help you with the restoration of your first generation camaro, I have built quite a few of these cars over the years, and I plan to build a few more of them, I will keep bringing you the information that you need to get the job done right.

Im having trouble removing my hub?!?

I have the hub puller on but everytime i try to tighten the center bolt so it could push it out the crank turns. Is the crank supposed to crank????? I dont know? am i doing something wrong? I have the 3 bolts going on the hub and i am using the rod in the middle and everythng is tight but it wont go any further cuz the crank turns? any suggestions? How do i do it if im doing it wrong? thank you 94 camaro LT1 5.7 L
im trying to remove my harmonic balancer? lol I need to replace my crank seal timing cover seal and oil pan gasket.
Ok i am and its coming out a little bit.. It is it supposed to be really super tight? It feels like im going 2 break something??

Assuming that you inserted a bolt into the crank that the puller is turning against, you only have to prevent the crank from turning. If it's a standard transmission, simply set the brake and put it in high gear. If it's an automatic, put a long bar between two of the puller arms to prevent the puller (and the crank) from turning.
