Founded by William Durant in 1908, GMC (Common Motors Corporation), was a holding business for Buick which was also under Durant's handle. Later that year, the Olds Organization joined Normal Motors, followed by Durant's purchase of Cadillac in Elkmore Oakland and a few other little independent vehicle companies. GMC also acquired the Rapid Motor Car or truck Organization of Pontiac and Reliance Engine Truck Corporation which served as predecessors to GMC Truck.
Durant lost control of the company in 1910 and almost gave it as much as a banker's trust but he rebounded rapidly with the help of racecar driver Louis Chevrolet. Together, they formed the Chevrolet Organization. He bough out Louis immediately after 6 decades, making him the sole owner of Chevrolet and brought it under the GMC umbrella in 1918. He was forced out of the business two years later on.
Common Motors began opening its factories in Europe and acquiring smaller purchases like Vauxhall Motors Ltd. from the UK. The company presented its automobile line up starting with the very first Pontiac and then pursued by Cadillac's LaSalle, its very first luxurious car.
Inside 1940s, GM lost control of Adam Opel AG to Germany and closed its operations in Japan to focus their primary manufacturing operations towards war. General Motors surpassed this era, and came out as the leading vehicle manufacturer within the United States. Its tradition of innovation was continuously established with its introduction of V8 engines to its Cadillac and Oldsmobile lineups. Coupe de Ville debut in 1949 as Cadillac's first tough top and a yr after, Chevrolet launched the Powerglide transmission which became the primary brand to deliver fully automatic shifting. Corvette were sent out 3 a long time after, which became about the most iconic vehicles in the profession.
GMC, simultaneously with its manufacturers, is the second biggest automobile producer globally. Current economic troubles have stricken the firm, however, this won't finish its historical past.

Buick Enclave Crossover: What Buick Did While Nobody Was Looking!
With the release of the all-new Buick Enclave Crossover Vehicle, Buick has come a long way from their reputation as an "old person's car." The Enclave is an ultra-sexy, modern, sleek, technologically advanced elegant crossover vehicle comparable to Lexus in quality, fit and finish, and priced more like a Chevy! While the buzz in the auto industry for the last 15 years or so has mostly focused on Japanese cars, Buick has been quietly improving their quality and design. Has anyone paid attention to Buick's JD power awards lately? Has anyone realized that Buick has moved into 1st place in quality to tie Lexus and has surpassed Toyota, Honda, Mercedes, BMW, Acura, and Infiniti?
The Enclave is at the forefront of the modern trend away from SUVs and into crossover vehicles. The Enclave can be configured as a seven or eight passenger vehicle. The Enclave comes with a standard fuel efficient V-6 engine as a front wheel drive model. All Wheel Drive is an available option. The Enclave comes in several trim levels with advanced options such as heated and cooled seats, GPS Navigation, XM radio, and rear camera parking assist.
The Buick Enclave Crossover Vehicle really is more of a "coming home" for Buick. Long before the Japanese cars came to America (when they developed a reputation for quality and somehow Buick came to be thought of as a rather boring older person's car), Buick was the car to aspire to! There were not as many cars in those days and each had a special place. The Buick was the car for the Doctor, or Lawyer, or Banker. It was the car for the successful professionals...not the richest person in town (He drove the Cadillac), but it was a symbol of status and success and the Buick WAS within reach of middle class Americans. The Buick was the affordable car of high quality and modern style - it WAS the car people really wanted. Now it's just like old times! Welcome Home, Buick!

What's the best GM car made you'd give advice to buy?
Old, new
Expensive, cheap
Small, Big
Car, SUV
Saturn, Chevy, Cadillac, Saab, GMC, Pontiac, Buick, Hummer
I have a love for GM and my parents used to lease them.
So I will go by my experiences. I live in a hilly area and in the winter time, it can be a real pain, so mostly during our leases we stuck to trucks or SUV's.
We had driven almost all the trucks GM had to offer and my favorite was the '08 Sierra Denali. It was very sharp and was the only of its kind in our area, so it was a major eye turner. Never had a problem and looked amazing inside and out. Great AWD.
As for the cheaper priced trucks, we had 3 Silverado's ('00,'04,08), never had a problem, and was about the same as a the Denali in looks. Recommended for trucks.
We had the '07 Sierra 2500 HD and it was a pain, bad experiences.
Had a '06 Cadillac CTS, smallest vehicle we had. Loved the look, and drived pretty well. (I'm thinking about getting a vehicle soon, and I think I may get buy one this time).
Also had driven almost every big SUV GM had to offer, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon Denali, Envoy. All felt the same, looked good, and driven well.
Stayed away from Hummer, Escalade.
I also own a '01 impala and it is a big headache. From what I've heard if you want to buy used stay away from the '01-0'05, as I hear/ and experienced (with only my impala), the are complete headaches.
2005 Volkswagen Beetle GLS from North America - Comments
Nothing has gone wrong at all with this car since I have owned, since new. I have the convertible and have been very satisfied with build quality and overall ride quality. It's not the fastest, but not the slowest either. Gas mileage is 25 MPG, with the automotic, combined city and highway.
