How to add duallies to an older Ford?

I recently acquired a '69 Ford 250 with a hydraulic dump bed. It has 8 bolt rims, and there is a smaller set of 8 bolts in the middle of the rim (right around the axle).

Can I just bolt on another set of rims to the original rims, or do I have to replace the entire axel assembly? In either case, about how much would I expect to pay for the set of wheels or an axle at a salvage yard.

You'll need a completely different axel, due to the payload rating diference between the stock axel and a Duelly, and you'll probably pay around 5 or 6 hundred for it at the junkyard.
