Chrysler Group has been sued by rejected dealerships that demand compensation for lost income and damages against their legal rights. Nine plaintiffs have sued Chrysler with four dealerships being the most recent ones to claim reinstatement and several more will probably join the suit in the following weeks.
The first dealership to file a lawsuit was Century Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Wentzville, Missouri. Some other dealers joined their efforts in an attempt to revert the decision to close, but other have resigned to the fact that they are extinguished.
The automaker filed for bankruptcy protection in 2009 and wanted to eliminate almost a quarter of its retail body. Using bankruptcy protection, Chrysler tried to overcome the restrictive state franchise laws, but some dealers sought arbitration. New laws have allowed states such as Oregon, Maine, Illinois or North Carolina to block Chrysler if they wish to grant a new franchise or relocate a dealership where other dealers were rejected.
Sales volumes, customer satisfaction and whether the dealer could handle all or just some of the three brands produced by Chrysler, were all taken into account when deciding which dealerships should close. The process of consolidating dealerships and locating all three brands under one roof started more than ten years ago. It was part of the decision of the company to stop manufacturing and marketing overlapping products. The current economic conditions would not allow the retail network to survive.
Some of the rejected dealers operated showrooms that were also handling other brands, so they could shift the focus on used vehicles, according to Chrysler's spokesmen. The company also offered to assist in the redistribution of the remaining cars and parts, offering incentives and warranty payments.
Chrysler acted on the performance data of the dealerships it rejected and other market data. They have claimed that the alternative would have been the liquidation of the company. This would have implied that all 3,200 dealerships had to close.
In June 2009, Chrysler shut down 789 dealers, trying to make the remaining ones more profitable. They said that closed dealers were not performing well and the move allowed for investments in better showrooms and advertising. The dealers Chrysler wanted to close sold very few new cars and careful consideration supported the decision on which dealerships should be closed. The company needed more profitable and better performing dealers that could offer better customer service. All brands were to be placed under one roof, in facilities that were located in places where profitability and greater investment were possible.
Dealers, however, feel that Chrysler has been acting unfairly towards them. The actions they took against the company made Chrysler reinstate some of the dealers they had previously wanted to close. A group lawsuit was filed in an effort to force the car manufacturer to let former dealerships sell new cars again.
However, even dealers that won arbitrations were not satisfied with conditions imposed on them. They were asked to meet reinstatement conditions that were, in their opinion, unrealistic, expensive and unfair. Finances and facilities were a major factor, and 29 dealers accepted the terms without going through arbitration.

Dodge Magnum RT 2006 Car Review
The new Magnum is a great looking automobile that may get your neighbors speaking as you rumble around the block. The unique styling of the Magnum will also attract gawkers in the shape of 18-22 years old guys pointing for their friends to "check that out". And a few people will approach you as you are filling up the gas tank to ask, "Does it actually have a Hemi?", with only an obscure idea that it somehow makes the car better.
The Magnum is offered with many different engine sizes (either a 6-cylinder or 8-cylinder) with your selection of hp output of 190, 250, 340 and 425. The cost of the car also corresponds with the engine size starting at $30,345 to the expensive STR-8 model for $37,320. A giant part of the mystique around this auto is the Hemi engine. The Hemi is short for hemispherical combustion chamber, which creates better fuel burning and allows bigger valves for better airflow. Fundamentally , it produces more power than an engine with its displacement would usually produce. ( there also are downsides to the Hemi, explaining why it isn't the only engine that Chrysler produces).
The interior of the vehicle looks much more costly than you'd be expecting for the cost of the Magnum. Since Mercedes bought Chrysler, the Dodge autos I have sampled had a sharp improvement in interior quality. While on the road, the car is really solid and the seats are comfy even on long highway runs.
As much as I like the looks, after driving it a bit I have to ask the design concept that the Magnum offers. It is a station wagon built to move plenty of people and lots of stuff. But mating this with a tough engine with the taught racing-like suspension is uncomfortable for both. It is like having a Corvette tow a small trailer, and you are in the trailer and the Corvette driver is 15 years-old, pushing the auto to its limits. (Only an actual Corvette has a much more cosy suspension than the Magnum). Even driving on smooth roads, the steering is extraordinarily darty and tough to control. And with a huge vehicle, all that weaving and road feedback is exaggerated for the passengers and everything you have stored in the back.
I like having a navigation system, but figuring out ways to use it with the wheel controls made me often refer to the user's manual. Regardless of the high h.p. and low-end torque I played with when starting from a full stop, the RT model I drove averaged twenty Miles per gallon on the higway.
What I presume to be the target audience for this automobile, those 18-22 year old men that I mentioned, will likely love this automobile. And as much as I like driving sports cars, the darty steering and sharp suspension make it too uncomfortable without any impressive payoff. The 0-60 sprint is fun for a little while, but I'd pass on buying a Magnum as a daily driving vehicle.

what size rear end is on my 73 w100?
I've got a 1973 dodge w100 pickup (power wagon) it's 4wd with a 360ci small block. I plan on rebuilding the rear (and possibly front) end. I noticed chrysler makes several different rear end sizes that are relatively similar in size so i'm not sure which one my truck has. Does anyone know what size the rear end is or know where I can find out? also If you happen to know the front end, that would be great too. thanks!
What i'm meaning to say is, you know how there is a ford 8.8" and 9" rear end? there are several styles of rear ends by GM chrysler and ford, I'm wondering what the size in inches would be on my truck. but even if I was to want to change the gear ratio, I'd need to know what size the rear end style is so i can get a correctly fittinng gear and pinion kit. Thanks
the front will be the same as the rear is, i think on the 4 wheel drive models those was all 3;55,s i own a 72 two wheel drive that's got a 410 factory gear in it,with a 360,they used many gears in those in those years, one way to find out pull it and count the teeth on both pinion and ring gear and divide them that will give you the gear ratio it has, good luck.
