need knowledge about 454 chevy big block v8?

I want to buy a new engine for my camaro, i have a 4th gen 1997 camaro rs. i want a 454 chevy big block. However im also wanting to restore a 67-69 camaro, so eventually i will swap the engne but for now im focusing on my camaro. so what kind of 454 do i need? any thing specific. and where can i buy one for under a thousand (working or on working, as long as it isnt anything serious problems) please help

well there is many different kind of 454s, ones that have a boss for a mechanical fuel pump (carb motors) and without, FI blocks. Unless you want to make your 97 a race car only, forget about putting a 454 in there, its a wide heavy motor and you have to totally redo the front in, not cheap, now a 1st gen a big block will work. But get a small block for the 97, it will fit and you can make mad power for cheaper than a big block ( I think a 454 is more for heavy cars on the track and for towing)
