When performing body modifications to your Honda Civic, the hood is another part that will set your Civic apart from the others. Honda Civic Hoods can come with vents and or scoops. Some may come in carbon fiber. Others may be a combination of all three elements. Deciding which Honda Civic hood is best for you really is a personal choice.
The first decision you should make when considering a new Honda Civic hood is whether you want fiberglass or carbon fiber. Fiberglass hoods tend to be cheaper than their carbon fiber cousins. However they are usually heavier. If you are going "all show" instead of "all go" maybe a fiberglass Honda Civic hood is right for you. Choosing a fiberglass Honda Civic hood with vents will decrease your overall engine bay temperature. This is a plus if you have a short ram intake installed that is drawing its air from within the engine bay.
Honda Civic hoods also are available in carbon fiber. These hoods are made by weaving fibers of carbon together. These hoods are super strong while lighter than fiberglass. If you are going for all "go" buying one of these could shave a few pounds off of your curb weight. Carbon fiber hoods come in black. So if you have a black Honda Civic a carbon fiber hood on your car may not be as noticeable.
Honda Civic hoods can be had anywhere from $150 to upwards of $600. You must shop around for the best deals. Don't shy away from used hoods either. Buying a scratched fiberglass Honda Civic hood would be very cheap, and with a respray of paint it will be as good as new. I suggest this method if you are on a tight budget. Check out the internet as it will tend to have better deals than your local speed shop. Installing a Honda Civic hood is easy and only requires some basic hand tools. I suggest that you get a friend, as an extra set of hands is always helpful.
You'll find buying your first Honda Civic hood to be a very noticeable modification. These hoods will set your Civic apart from all the others. In conjunction with a body kit, spoiler, headlights, taillights and rims, you can mold your Civic into your own unique creation.

My Automotive Accessory Revolution!
I decided to get a new shift knob for my old school Honda. I thought at first that I would surly end up with a MOMO shifter since I have heard some really good things and knew there name. I shopped around and checked a few local shops and after not being impressed by anything I saw I started searching on the web.
I ran across a web site called Shutt USA and at first I was not sure about their products but I decided to give them a call and actually talked with the owner. I chatted with him for about 20 minutes and he knew what he was talking about and explained that the reason I have not heard the name Shutt is because this is a Brazil based company and they have never sold to the US before he started importing the restyling products. He explained installation steps for the products I was interested.
Well after the chat with him I ended up purchasing not only a shift knob but I also purchased a shift boot to match and a set of the MetalX pedals. I couldn’t hardly wait for the items to arrive.
To my amazement the items were here 7 days later, NOW THAT IS FAST! I got to work right away.
I had some new black carpet that I wanted to install that I had purchased a year ago so this was gonna be a make over. I tore it all apart in less than 45 minutes. It took me 3 hours just to get the new carpet installed. Finally the part we have been waiting for…the Shutt USA parts. I started with the shift knob and it was installed in 2 minutes with the aid of the supplied tool. Well the shift boot was a little more work, I had a square hole and the boot has a round base with a rectangle back plate. I figured out a way to cover my square hole with the supplied rectangle plate. Tighten down the screws and that was done and installed. Last but definitely not least the MetalX pedals. I had feared that this would be the most difficult part of the install but the clutch and brake went on without a problem. I removed all the rubber pieces on my old pedals. I simply loosen up the screws on the new pedal face until the plate on the rear of the pedal would sandwich my old pedal, attached and tighten the screws. I had a small problem with the gas pedal or at least I thought, when I went to attach the new pedal I found that my gas pedal was thicker than the rest….no problem in the box that the pedals came in was extra long screws for just such an emergency.
I have had the parts installed for a week now and the quality is great, and the look is super. Very pleased with my purchase and will tell friends.
