how can i put a 402 chevy big block in my 85 olds cutlass?

i have a olds cutlass that has a reg 307 and i blew that up and i have a 402 chevy big block that runs great and its just laying around and i wanted to know what i had to do to get that motor in

This is definitely NOT a job for a DIYer, but it can be done with the right amount of experienced help and a fair amount of $$$$$. The 402 will fit in the engine bay, but understand that everything you need for the accessories(A/C, power steering, alternator,all the belts. The brackets for these items etc.) are going to be needed from the 402. None of the brackets or much of anything else will fit from the 307 to the 402 with out either the correct brackets or fabrication.
Now you are going to need a transmission that has the "Chevy" bell housing bolt pattern. Yours has a B O P pattern (Buick Olds Pontiac).This will not fit the 402.After getting the engine in the hole and the tranny hooked up you may or may not need to build a drive shaft. You will definitely need to have the exhaust redone. And the radiator should be upgraded to a 3 or 4 core so you won;t have an overheat problem. The rest of the project is downhill from there..
But still not an easy task.. If you have never done this type of swap, you may want to check into some local shops in you area that do this type of work and discuss the ins and outs with them.

402 is DEFINITELY a big block Chevy looks like a 396 only with a different bore.. Came out in early '70's - like about 1970 or 1971 and was used until about 1973 I think.
