Safety Comes First For The Nissan Pathfinder

The 2010 Nissan Pathfinder includes a variety of standard safety features as well as many that are optional for the buyer. All models come with standard with stability control, antilock disc brakes, ABS and driveline traction control, and active head restraints on the front seats. Airbags included are frontal and side impact on the driver and passenger side and side curtain airbags on the first, second, and third rows.

The front seats come with seatbelt pre-tensioners as well front and rear safety belts that are adjustable to accommodate passengers of differing heights. An occupancy sensor is also standard as are halogen headlights. Headlight washers are optional on the SE model and standard on the LE Pathfinder. Illuminated entry is standard on all models and delay off headlamps are standard on the LE and optional on the SE as is the parking assist feature. Exterior light control is auto off on all of the models except for the LE that has it included standard.

Remote keyless entry is standard on all LE and SE 2010 Pathfinder models as is a panic alarm , power door locks with 2 stage unlock, and rear child safety door locks. A theft deterrent alarm comes standard on all models in addition to a low tire pressure warning signal and ignition disable. A first aid kit is optional on all of the 2010 Nissan Pathfinders. When to switch beater cars?

Well, I'm a bit stuck on what to do. I'm a recent college graduate (with little money, so buying a new car is out of the question), who has been driving a 90' Toyota Corolla for the past 4 years. It's been good to me, and have replaced a few things here and there. Thing is though, is I'm in Minnesota now, and will be moving to Iowa in the next month or so. It's got 188,xxx miles, and starting to need new (petty so far) parts every other week. Did altenator/battery 2 years ago, last month alone did o2 sensor, blower switch/motor,tire repair kit, etc now needs spark plugs/wires, getting close to a timing belt, and mechanic suggested a few other (big) things in the near future, especially with the miles I drive,and the noises the car makes at me now. I found a 91' Nissan Sentra with 149,xxx miles for a price I can afford, my question is should I go with that and sell the toyota, or keep trying with my car now?

If you're willing to do some of the work yourself (plugs and plug wires are easy, and timing belts aren't too complicated if you're willing to do the research beforehand) this can be a lot cheaper.

What are the other things the mechanic recommended? On this car, I'm betting most of them are simple, and you could probably knock them all out in a day or two yourself.

Anyhow, you'll end up where you are with the Toyota soon enough if you switch to that Nissan, so it might not end up being such a great deal. The only questions are whether it costs more to fix than to replace (taking into account not paying a mechanic to do things you can do yourself in 15 minutes), and whether you care about the car more than the money.

If the car is disposable to you, and you will save money ditching it, the choice is clear. But you should determine that as certainly as you can before you go through with it.
