A new K-Series engine Swift will be introduced-first in India, coming in early 2010. This marks the beginning of sales for the new Swift in the United States also. Previous years, the car was not available for sale in the United States. Rave reviews are expected as it launches itself into stardom with the States.
The new K-Series engine will provide a smaller amount of bulk horsepower but will offer better fuel mileage than the previous models. Even with the fact of less horsepower, the torque remains that same. A side-by-side comparison of the older generation engine and the new K-Series engine are below:

• 113Nm@4,500 rpm
• 16 kpl
K-Series 1.2L Engine
• 1,197cc, 16-Valve
• 85bph @ 6,000 rpm
• 113Nm@ 4,500 rpm
• 18 kpl
Additional safety features are integrated into all base model Swifts as part of their surround protection such as:
• EBD
• Airbags
• ABS
• Crash Resistant and Power Absorbing Trim Design
• Adjustable Steering Column
• Front Seat Belt Pre-Tensioners that instantly tighten in the even of a crash
Along with the new K-Series engine, the 2010 Swift will have an ample supply of comforts that were only found in the larger mid-size cars. It will be equipped with integrated radio controls on the steering wheel, a keyless remote and a key-in warning buzzer just to name a few.

Vincent van Gogh and His Unforgetable Sunflowers
"It is a kind of painting that rather changes in character, and takes on a richness the longer you look at it. Besides, you know, Gauguin likes them extraordinarily. He said to me among other things - 'That...it's...the flower.' You know that the peony is Jeannin's, the hollyhock belongs to Quost, but the sunflower is somewhat my own." - Van Gogh
No doubt sunflower are one of favorite subjects and he painted many even in his short life. Although a prolific artist, Vincent van Gogh is most often remembered for his Sunflower paintings. Vincent van Gogh's Sunflower paintings have been duplicated many times by various artists (although never reaching the vivacity and intensity of Van Gogh's) and displayed everywhere; from households to art expos.
The first Sunflowers, painted in Paris during the summer of 1887, used dark colors and featured only 1 or 2 blossoms each. However, van Gogh continued to experiment with the Sunflower, and in August 1888, while waiting in Arles for his friend, Paul Gauguin, van Gogh painted at least 4 brilliantly colored Sunflower paintings, using riotous yellows, oranges and reds. Gauguin admired the colorful Sunflower series so much, that two of the paintings hung in his bedroom.
It was at the end of this visit to the South of France that van Gogh descended into madness, ultimately severing his own ear. This hand-painted wrap-around oil painting has been reproduced from the original Sunflowers painting in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is unclear whether this painting was completed in Arles in 1888, or the following year, when another "Still Life: Vase with Twelve Sunflowers" painting is noted. Despite the year, Sunflowers bursts with the vibrant energy of Vincent van Gogh, and has become a timeless masterpiece for which he will always be remembered.
Van Gogh created the Sunflower series in 1887 - 88. He created nine paintings all together for the series – three with fifteen flowers, two with twelve in 1888 and a year earlier had created a series of four paintings. The colors are vibrant and express emotions typically associated with the life of sunflowers: bright yellows of the full bloom to arid browns of wilting and death; all of the stages woven through these polar opposites are presented. Perhaps this very technique is what draws one into the painting; the fulfillment of seeing all angles of the spectrum of life and in turn reaching a deeper understanding of how all living things are tied together.
According to BBC.co.uk:
"These series of paintings were made possible by the innovations in manufactured pigments in the 19th Century. Without the vibrancy of the new colors, such as chrome yellow, Van Gogh may never have achieved the intensity of Sunflowers."
Based on a still life theme, Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers is an oil painting which was created by Van Gogh in August 1888, while he was living in Arles, France. Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers was created in a spectacular series by the Dutch artist. This series includes similar paintings of fifteen sunflowers in a vase, and two similar paintings with twelve sunflowers in a vase. Van Gogh started working on this painting in August 1888 and completed it the following year. The painting depicts the illustration of sunflowers passing through several stages of life, beginning with full blooming to withering out. The artist brilliantly produced it in several shades and hues. The painting is regarded especially for its innovative nature, which significantly highlights the use of the yellow spectrum, as well as the newly invented use of colors.
In March 1987, Japanese insurance magnate Yasuo Goto paid 40 million dollars for Van Gogh's Still Life: Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers at an auction at Christie's London. This was at the time a record setting sum for a painting. This painting is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, United States.
